To really quit smoking, it is important for a smokers to cleanses their body of nicotine and other harmful chemicals absorbed from smoking for two reasons: The detoxification process provides positive reinforcement of the smoking cessation process, and the increased speed of the removal of nicotine from the body reduces the duration of the physical symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
Nicotine begins to be removed from the body immediately after the last cigarette, but will take up to six weeks to become completely expelled. Partial saturation of nicotine in neurological receptors causes the cravings for nicotine, and will not subside until the nicotine saturation level is either 100% (more nicotine is consumed) or 0% (all nicotine is removed). The shorter duration of cravings and nicotine withdrawal symptoms will increase the likely hood of success for anyone trying to quit smoking cigarettes.
Burdock Flower
The Burdock Flower
The herb burdock is a detoxification herb and is traditionally used as a blood purifier and as a diuretic, removing excess fluids from the body. Burdock root helps remove most of the toxins absorbed by the body while smoking, most especially toxins built up in the liver and gallbladder. Because burdock aids in the removal of toxins from the blood it helps the body expel nicotine faster and will cut down the time of the physical cravings for cigarettes.
Sarsaparilla root is also used for detoxification, helping to remove chemicals that are built up in the body. It cleanses the blood and organs. Sarsaparilla's main steroid sarsaponin binds to toxins in the blood so that the body can easily remove them.
Both these ingredients are in Quit Tea assist anyone stop smoking. There are other herbs that can help cleanse the body, like Milk Thistle. Milk Thistle is especially useful in restoring liver function and cleaning out the liver, which absorbs most of the toxins. It is also an anti-inflammatory and will help reduce some physical pain and inflammation during the smoking cessation process.
