An ode to the spacer bead

The spacer bead is one of the most overlooked of the Pandora Bracelet family. Most are simple, functional items amongst the starry array of its cousins, its bare utility sets it apart. Yet this sparseness belies its true beauty. Like its larger neighbours, it is also finely crafted in either 14 carat gold or 925 Hallmarked Sterling Silver, the same materials found in metal bracelets.
Another way of viewing the spacer is as a miniature representation of the bracelet that surrounds the arm of the wearer. What better way to drop a hint that you would like a gold bracelet than to add a gold spacer and suggesting to that special someone that "it would look amazing full size" and hoping that the hint sows the seed of that special gift, maybe for an anniversary or to celebrate an event such as a birth.
Of course spacer beads are available with jewels attached or with intricate patterns. These offer an affordable way of freshening up your Pandora Bracelet with something new and exciting, but of course at a lower cost than a full sized bead.
There are many notable spacer beads available for Pandora Bracelets, these include the Silver Purple Cubic Zirconia spacer (790368ACZ) which offers fans a chance to own a superb diamond-style stone featuring the unusual colouring which can only be guaranteed with the scientific procedures employed in creating a Cubic Zirconia.
Spacers also offer the opportunity to try out stunning designs that may be too overpowering if they formed part of a larger piece. One stunning example of this is the Starburst Spacer (790210) which is an attempt at capturing in silver the moment when a sun goes supernova, reducing nearby planets to ashes in its molten heat. In its short existence a supernova can radiate as much energy as the Sun is expected to emit over its entire life span.
Spacers usually attach to the Pandora Bracelet by a different mechanism to the rest of the collection. These items attach with a clipping mechanism that fits around the bracelet rather than screwing in to the bracelet in the traditional way.
Whatever your taste in jewellery, these bite-size nuggets allow you to express your individuality in a compact and discrete manner.
