There are many online stores and retailers out in cyberspace that give us many choices when it comes to purchasing corporate gifts for clients and customers. It has never been easier or more daunting. So having a good grasp of the essentials before you go out and find the perfect corporate gift is the right way to begin. Here are some fundamental points not to forget.
Consider Needs/Wants: Knowing what gift to buy for a client is the hardest obstacle of corporate gift buying. Most companies do not know their customers on a personal level. Buying for them without knowing their hobbies, interest, likes/dislikes can be hard. Your best bet is to find out about your client by asking them what the like and how they spend their free time. This should give you some ideas of what to buy.
Company Policies: Before attempting to buy any gifts, make sure you follow the company's policy towards gift giving. Many companies will have a limit on the amount of money you can spend or may have policies in place forbidding any gifts. Nothing would be worse than giving a client a gift, then having to make them return it because you did not follow your companies guidelines.
When in doubt Go with Quality: The gifts you give reflects on the image of your company. Giving lower quality gifts will not make a very good impression with anyone. And do not forget, quality does not always mean expensive. Stick with a budget, just make sure the items you choose are worthy of your company.
Multicultural: Today's companies work in a global environment. And each country and region has its own culture and traditions. You must respects and be aware of such customs when purchasing business gifts.
Packaging/Hand Written Messages/Delivery: Sometimes companies worry too much about what type of gifts to give and forget about how the gifts are presented to the recipients. For example, it is so easy to rubber stamp a message on a card and be done. But if you want to make a positive and lasting impression, a good idea is to hand write a personal message with the gift. Also, spend some of your budget on gift wrapping. Or even get a professional service to help you. It is important to make a good first impression when the client sees the gift. To make an even better impression, you should deliver the gift in person. This shows your client they are valued and respected.
Tax Deduction: Find out if business gifts are tax-deductible. For example, in the USA, business gifts are tax-deductible up to $25 per person. Finding out the different tax rules will go along way in determining your budget and making business gift giving a vital part of the success of your company.
These basic points should make it easier and more fun when you are purchasing corporate gifts. Helping you to create and strengthen your professional and social relationship with your clients.
