Every person who has ever tried to use drugs for treating hair loss has certainly wondered about possible natural and herbal alternatives to achieve the same effects. While there are really effective drugs available on the market these days, some men and women are plagued by their side effects and can't benefit from using them. Fortunately for these people, new researches in the domain of hair loss treatment have made it possible to choose from a set of other options as well.
The average natural hair loss rate is between 50 and 100 hairs a day. There's nothing wrong about losing this amount of hair, since it's instantly replaced with new grown hair. When the hair is longer the lost hairs are of course better observed and create an impression that you lose a lot of hair. But if you count the actual amount of lost hair it will typically be around the natural hair loss rate. The problems start when the normal hair growth rates drop to the level when they can't stand up to the natural hair loss. Thus hair thinning occurs and progresses as the time passes.
It's evident that in order to stop hair loss you have to restore the natural cycle of hair renewal. In order to do that you have to identify the actual problem that's causing your hair growth rate to drop. It can be a health issue, medication side effect, poor nutrition or hygiene of the scalp. Only after you have identified the actual cause you can take the following measures for increasing your hair growth rates:
Proper nutrition and vitamin balance
Hair follicles are very sensitive to improper nutrition. If your food is low on vitamins and minerals that are necessary for the normal chemical balance of the body then it's very likely that you'll start experience hair loss of different degrees. Some of the most important vitamins and minerals for keeping hair follicles strong and hair growth rates high include vitamins of the B group, vitamin C, vitamin E, biotin, inositol, and zinc. You can get this vitamins and miners with foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, fish and read meat. Or you can also take them as dietary supplements. However, it's very important that you respect the right dosage of each vitamin, since overdosing them can also lead to serious health problems including hair loss. It's better to consult with your doctor about your personal dosage of every vitamin you should take daily.
Hair care
While hygiene is certainly a very important aspect of keeping your hair healthy, using "herbal" and "natural" shampoos will hardly help you with vitalizing the hair and providing proper stimulation to the hair follicles. Besides using ordinary shampoos, it's recommended to use Aloe Vera oil as a conditioner while washing hair. Another good substance is green tea. Recent studies have concluded that green tea can in fact be as good as Propecia for stopping hair loss only without the side effect and restrictions of the synthetic drug. Just like Propecia, green tea helps blocking specific enzymes and hormones that weaken the hair follicles and cause hair loss. So it could be a good idea to use green tea as a conditioner.
