Whether you prefer outdoor or indoor activities, there are more than enough things to do in Naples. It's a city packed with a mix of opportunities for the vacationing visitor.
The Beaches
Without a doubt, the best attraction in Naples are the beaches. There are many stretches of sandy beaches, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The white sands are kept clean and well-groomed so you will always have a pleasant experience.
Beaches in Naples are very busy places, and you can almost always find a game of volleyball or frisbee going. Building sandcastles is a local pastime that you'll often see people doing.
There is more than one beach area to choose from, including the Delnor Wiggins State Park, Lowdermilk Park, Vanderbilt Beach and Clam Pass Beach just to name a few.
Fishing
The fishing is good in Naples in any season, though the charter boat companies can tell you what times of year are best for certain fish. These companies can arrange your boating charters, along with equipment and licenses for a day out on the water fishing.
A typically fishing trip goes from 8 to 40 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, and you can usually book multi-day trips to the Dry Tortugas if you want more action.
Sights of Nature
The Naples region is filled with a variety of natural landscapes for exploration, including the beaches, mangrove swamps and the Everglades. If you are looking for natural things to do in Naples, you won't have any difficulties.
A tour of the Everglades is an absolute must. You can see some remarkable scenery as well as alligators, manatees and so many species of birds.
Golf
People don't refer to Naples as the "Golf Capital of the World" for no reason. There are so many courses, you won't know where to tee off first. You can find the right course whether you are a beginner or a long-time pro. Many of the hotels and resorts have their own golf courses.
Dining
No matter what international cuisine you fancy, you will almost certainly find at least one restaurant that fits the bill. Naples is filled with restaurants so variety is never a problem. And if you don't want to eat out, having an outdoor picnic lunch out on the beach is a very popular option. Enjoying a great meal is one of the prime things to do in Naples, so take advantage of the choices.
Shopping
If you're the kind of person who loves to shop in new stores when on vacation, then Naples is going to be perfect for you. There are shops all over the city but one of the most prestigious shopping areas is found at Fifth Avenue and Third Street South. Be on the lookout for Tin City, Coastland Center Mall, Bayfront and the Waterside Shops. All of these shopping areas are worth some time for browsing.
There are high-end boutiques as well as the fun beach stores. No matter where you go in Naples, you'll find someone selling sandals, t-shirts, swim suits, sea shells and a wide mix of trinket souvenirs to mark your trip. All at great prices too.
More Things to Do in Naples
The Philharmonic Center for the Arts offers frequent shows and performances, including the local Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. You can also enjoy a bit more culture with museums and art galleries or unwind with a visit to one of the many luxurious spas.
If you are looking for something more relaxed, see Naples like a local and walk around one of the community farmer's markets for handicrafts and more souvenirs.
