Old England did not lack any medieval sites, and churches and abbeys were an important part of the country's past. Wigston Two Steeples or Great Wigston are the historical Middle Ages names of Wigston Magna, a town located within Leicestershire, to the south of Leicester. The peculiar names were attributed to the town because of the particularity of having two medieval churches, All Saints and St. Wistans.
If we were to consider the historical dates that refer to the formation of this land and its origins, it would seem that the land on which Wigston currently stands on has been held by Hugh de Grandmesnil for the King, according to the writings in the Domesday Book.
As for the town markets, one of its major markets has been MacFisheries' MacMarkets, which became a branch of International Stores and a successor of the Gateway Foodmarket.
