The world of Internet marketing on line if your site is not detected, you are bankrupt. This may seem harsh, but true. Your potential customers use search engines like Google to find products and services they need. If your company does not appear in search results you may be losing business.
Your company's website is designed for the main purpose of be viewed by potential customers. Your site is used to deliver content that is intended to benefit your specific audience.
This is the main context which explains the value of search engines. To be noticed by search engines is one thing, but getting listed in the top ten listings for your keywords is the ultimate goal for any company. When someone searches on a particular keyword is the most prominent sites pop up first and are usually the most visited sites. There are components that search engines examine every time they rate web pages for keywords.
That is the main purpose of search engine optimization. SEO is a process that focuses on strengthening the site's in search engine listings. SEO has become one of the major industries that are connected to the Internet Web Marketing. There are many techniques for how to do SEO and just as many companies offering this service to small business owners, some good some not so.
To the science of search engine optimization to understand small business owners should be able to understand how search engines work. We will not get into the nitty-gritty aspects of search engine optimization, but we will give you some basics, then you will realize that it is important that SEO plays in traffic to your website and the various forms of SEO.
The SEO world there are two ways of doing things:
Pay per click (PPC) advertising:
This type of SEO is the oldest and still very effective, but for most companies a very expensive way to drive traffic. A Web site can be ranked by a search engine via a sponsored link or a pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. With the ongoing promotion of the search engines, many search engines have introduced paid advertising or what we call a pay-per-click (PPC).
Website owners bid on selected keywords they want. The most popular model of this type is the Google Adwords program, which is visible on the right of your browser when you have a Google search. I with PPC paid banner ads and the like.
This type of advertising can be expensive, depending on the price of your keywords you are using. What that really means is that if larger companies are willing to pay let's say $2.00-per-click which means the company pays $2.00 every time someone clicks on their PPC ad. Now, this does not mean that to $2.00 that a visitor simply means that business customer who spent $2.00 for anyone to click through to a website they own.
This is why when you go the PPC way, the website or landing page that the visitor "lands" on is so important and convert those visitors into customers. As the owner of this website only spent $2.00 for the visitors. Is there a better way of doing things?
Organic Search - a better way?
This type of SEO as it were, is cheaper and more effective as studies now show that Internet users are not trusting "Paid for" ads. That is the strength of this approach to Internet Web Marketing.
A website can just as well be ranked through organic search results. Search engines employ "spiders" and "bots" that can analyze the content of your site, other links back to your site (called back links), articles, websites, videos, etc. That have your keywords in them that link back to your site. And for small businesses that means to reach customers in their particular niche and your niche.

Small to medium sized businesses have to get engaged with some form of SEO, the days of relying on "Yellow Pages" to draw people in are long gone! According to a recent survey 82% of Internet users visit a search engine before they go on line to offline to purchase products and services. Question is, your business is found when the client searches for what you provide, or is your competitor?
