Memorial day weekend for Miami Beach is a very special occasion when a lot of people come to the beach to enjoy vacations, day off or just to hang out on scooters or tours throughout Miami.

First years of this celebration it was total chaos because the local business and tours operators on the Miami Beach area were not ready for this avalanche of people looking to have fun, all at the same time and at the same place.

As an informational company for tourists and locals, Half Price Tour Tickets has passed out flyers to the concierges and local information retail places, so they also know what is about to go on for South Beach and entire Miami Beach for this weekend, and have found that most of the business, again, are not ready to what’s about to come, disorder, unprepared information, disabled parking lots and lot other stuff that people should know here on the Beach, and obviously, they don’t.

The city of Miami Beach is looking forward to fix this situation by applying more police enforcement, closing some streets and even closing entrance to Miami Beach if necessary. Some Segway and Scooter rental shops will take advantage of this situation to raise their prices and for sure will get sold out anyway.

People normally get this opportunity to come to Miami Beach and just hang around with friends or family through very crowded streets.

Most locals in the Beach will be gone during this event to avoid encounters or any other type of encounter, for more information on what the city will do for this special weekend, we collected the following information :

MEMORIAL DAY TOUR SCHEDULE

Starting on Friday, May 27th through Monday, May 30th there will be no hotel pick-ups or drop-offs for tours. Guests must come to two convenient locations to begin their tours:

1657 Washington Avenue (between Lincoln Road & 17th Street on the east side of Washington Avenue )

1136 Collins Avenue (between 11th & 12th Streets on the west side of Collins Avenue)

Below is the city’s plan that has mandated this action (and the fact that traffic is traditionally a major obstacle during this weekend).

Starting on Friday, May 27 at 7 am the following policies are being enforced by the City of Miami Beach:

  1. Ocean Drive will be closed to all traffic from 5th Street to 15th Street.

  2. Most of the 100 blocks will be "limited traffic" for valet parking

  3. Collins Avenue from Espanola Way to 5th Street will have all parking meters bagged and French barricades blocking access to the street except at the corners.

  4. Collins Avenue from Lincoln Road to 23rd Street will have a massive police presence to prevent vehicles from stopping traffic.

  5. Washington Avenue from 5th Street to Lincoln Road will have a massive police presence to keep traffic moving.

As a recommendation, for all tourists and locals doing tours in Miami, it is a better choice if you wait after Memorial Weekend is over and then do your tours and activities so you don't get stuck in traffic and other issues.
