Where is this city located?

This port city is a busy city situated on the natural bay of Santander. The name of the city evolved from the name of Saint Emeterio, a Christian saint who was beheaded in the third century AD and his head brought to this port city along with another saint called Saint Celedino. Legend has it that the two saints were brothers and both were legionaries in the army before being beheaded. History comes alive when one visits the port in this city in a Car Hire Santander Airport and one can view this legend on the walls of cathedrals which are visible even from passing vehicles like Car Hire Santander.

Historical happenings

One of the greatest turning points in the history of this town is the great fire of the year 1941. Almost all people were rendered homeless as people’s homes were completely burnt down to the ground. However the best part of this is that only one person died in this catastrophe and he was a fire fighter. Thus one can see that the port city of Santander is largely built using modern day construction material. This is plainly observable as one strolls down the tree shaded avenues of quiet residences or on Car Hire Santander through busy thoroughfares in the city. The most tragic loss was that of the Cathedral built along Roman lines with thick walls and rounded arches at the entrances and windows.

The climate of this city is mainly oceanic which means that there are winds which blow throughout the day. This can be pleasantly felt by the tourist with his window rolled down in a Car Hire Santander. For the first half of the day there is sea breeze and during the next 12 hours of the day, there is a pleasant land breeze sweeping the heat into the sea. The tourist arriving in a Car Hire Santander feels cool because of this.
