Getting ready for Fathers Day? By the way, what is a father? Fathers are supposed to be there when the going gets tough, when you need advice to make an important decision, and how about for support. A dad doesn’t have to be the procreator of a child, but someone who cared and loved you as a daughter or son. Somebody that has made possible for you to graduate from college, or who has taken care of your needs as you were growing up. It doesn’t have to be Fathers Day to celebrate your Dad; this can be done any day of the year. Here are seven ideas in how to do just that.

• Listen: It has been said that listening sometimes can be an art. Well really listening to what another person is saying to you, can take more than just listening with our ears. Pay really good attention to what your dad is trying to tell you, you might learn something new.

• Gift: A very thoughtful gift can say more than you can ever put in words; something that you think can actually make the receiver of such present feel, that it was chosen specially for him or her. For example, gift baskets, you can purchase one that best fits your old man.

• How to give: There are times when we have to know how to give, because if we want to help in some way, probably instead of helping, we can do some harm. Ask the person that you are trying to offer a helping hand, gift, or some advice so that you can provide your good intentions. The person you see as you dad, will greatly appreciated.

• Give time: Whether you live with that person that you respect and admire, giving of our time takes some work and imagination. Make some time to spend with that person and do something that will bring good memories.

• Friendship: It would be great if we all have a friend from that someone who provided a secure and better future for you. If you can, try to become a good friend of that special someone.

• Teach: The father-child relationship can have a very huge impact on the life of a child, but we all, especially males, can teach children and become role models. It takes time and effort, well more effort for those of us who did not had a positive role model to follow.

• Learn: No matter how much we think we know about relationships or parenting, there will always be room to learn in how to improve our relationship with our dad or that exceptional person that provided that father figure.
