For every junk food craving you have, there is a healthy alternative equally as delicious! When making your food choice, remember to consider vitamins and minerals. Now that you are aware of the healthy options available to you, you should have no problem saying "good riddance" to junk food, and "hello" to good wholesome food. Here are a few of my favorite healthy dinner ideas & junk food alternatives to get you started. If you love pasta as much as I do, these recipes will get you excited with their taste, aesthetic appeal and ease with which to make.

Get rid of the candy bars, potato chips and other excessively sugar and fat based snacks; replace them with healthy alternatives like nuts, fruits and healthy baked foods. Cook your food with healthy oils like olive oil and peanut oil, don't deep fry it's not necessary and it's bad for you. Bake, Broil & Stew Your Meals!

Believe it or not, scheduling your meals will help your metabolism rate. This is not because there is some magic in this but it keeps you on your eating plan. Most people will get so busy during the day that they forget to eat or grab something on the run that is not a good choice. Scheduled eating helps you maintain balance. Plan your eating for the day so that you are not trying to make a good choice of foods when you are suddenly very hungry. Your body works better when it knows it will get the fuel it needs on a regular basis. Skipping meals is a bad idea. Eating smaller portions and eating more often will keep your metabolism rate at an even level.

Teenage weight loss by restricting calories should be kept to a minimum. A slow, gradual, and controlled restriction of calories is key. I recommend starting with a 5% reduction of calories from baseline for two weeks. This is followed by a 10% reduction for one week and then a 15% reduction (if necessary) for one week. To start you need to ask yourself is my current diet a healthy one? With a pen and paper begin noting what it is that you eat and the calories that are associated with those foods. Make note of your intake of fruits and vegetables versus the fried foods, candy bars, potato chips, desserts and other junk foods you consume.

A walk for 30 minutes in the morning is a good idea. If you are already going for walks, then start jogging to add more intensity. Having a glass of cold water with lemon juice, in the morning can help to speed up your metabolism further.

Instead of skipping meals, eat 4 - 6 small meals a day. Starving yourself can make you sick, and it rarely ever works to help you lose weight. If you eat 4 - 6 small, yet healthy, meals a day it will keep you from feeling hungry throughout the day and you will be less likely to grab something fattening if you plan these meals out.‘
