Working as an intern in Boston this summer and need a temporary place to set up shop? Or do you work from home and need to get out of your home office/desk or the local coffee shop? Perhaps its time to join the movement of business professionals using co-working facilities. There are tons of benefits to co-working.
Here are a few great places for co-working in Boston:
WorkBar Boston:
Interns in Boston can take advantage of joining the ranks of other growing businesses in a shared environment, and have easy access to the exchange of ideas. WorkBar offers a flexible working environment, while giving virtual interns around the clock access to their office.
For Boston interns looking for a place to work with easy access to public transportation, WorkBar is on the lower level of 711 Atlantic Ave, conveniently located across the street from the south station train platform and next to BSC. The office is easily accessible by the red, green, orange and silver T lines as well as by commuter rail. They offer spacious work areas, conference rooms, meeting rooms, printing, administrative services, lounge and private phone areas, faxing, scanning, and unlimited cups of fresh coffee daily. There are several levels of membership ranging from dedicated seats for people that need a more permanent workspace as well as various community seats in our open workspace. All of the memberships are on a month-to-month basis.
Event space is available in their dedicated conference room. They provide projector/screen, up to 50 folding chairs, tables, music, and a list of catering options. If the event is free to the public, members will receive free promotion via FB and Twitter, as well as the WorkBar events calendar, emails, and newsletter.
In the spirit of supporting struggling entrepreneurs, WorkBar periodically offers specials such as discounted rates or free workdays. They also have a refer-a-friend program where members will receive a $50 credit towards the next month’s membership. Another option is WorkBar’s Member Volunteer Program. Members volunteer to set up and clean space during an after hours conference room event and receive a credit towards their membership based on the number of hours you have worked.
Cambridge Co-Working Center:
Located in start-up heaven, Cambridge Co-Working Center, or C3 has more community members than any other co-working center in Boston. The innovators at C3 believe that interns working in a community of other entrepreneurs can learn more, grow faster, and build better businesses.
C3 is a free-flowing environment designed to meet the needs of a wide range of businesses. C3 provides a variety of shared working areas including large, shared tables, single desks, huddle rooms, whiteboard walls, printing/faxing/scanning stations, personal storage, and window lines that give a full view of Kendall Square.
The $250 bundle package includes some advantages such as 5 shared meeting rooms, unlimited snacks, free printing/scanning/copying/faxing, free security, and free access to the Venture Café, which is a networking event held every Thursday.
Geek Offices:
The Geek Offices were set up to make each member feel as though they are an active part of what Geek Offices represents for all of its members. Amenities available to members include up to 5 free printed pages per day, free admission to member-related events, free coffee, showers, and UPS and Fed Ex boxes in the building. Membership options range from the most basic Geek Daily, with limited access, to Geek Company, a package for that suits the needs of multiple members of one company. The Cambridge office is located 2 blocks East of Inman Square.
There are tons of great benefits to co-working for you and your staff, first being cost saving, but there are tons of others. Boston has great places to set up shop if you think co-working is for. It can’t hurt to give it a try.
