The basic principles of healthy nutrition are mainly those that are valid for other family members, there are only small variations due to age of the child.
Every bite counts
Empty calories (such as cookies, cakes and other sweets full of sugar) should be extremely rare in children's repertoire - and healthy treats (like cakes of integral flour sweetened whit fruit juice) may be an important additional element of a healthy diet.
Not all calories are equal. 100 calories obtained from a cube of chocolate and 100 calories from bananas is not the same in terms of nutritional value.
Skipping meals is risky
