Game rules demand that every team must have complete and unique football kits to differentiate them from their opponents. The particular law demands that each player must have a jersey, shorts, socks, shin guards and appropriate footwear commonly referred to as boots. Although some teams have almost similar uniforms, kits normally come with different colours that enable you to distinguish different sides and the referees. The choice of style is however left for the individual team to decide so long as it conforms to the standard guidelines that are laid down by the governing bodies.
Modern kits are a far cry from the uniforms that players used to wear in the past. The use of technology has ensured that the modern footballer is fully optimized for performance whenever they enter the pitch. A major factor that has contributed to this improvement is the combination of sports knowledge. The techniques that are embraced in making gear for swimmers, athletes, rugby players and cyclists have all been inculcated in developing kits for footballers. Hence, the heavy fabrics that subjected players to agony during rainy or freezing temperatures in the past have been relegated to the wardrobes.
So what factors are mostly considered when selecting football team kits?
Comfort
Comfort is a major issue when it comes to player kits. It is an established fact that players skills are affected by the clothing they wear on the pitch. Jerseys, shorts and socks must not be too baggy or loose. They must be made from material that is light, regulates body temperature and resistant to odours and mildew.
Kit makers are always competing to produce the most comfortable materials for football jerseys. The best materials grab moisture from your skin and move it to the surface of the fabric where it evaporates. The materials should be soft and flexible and shrink resistant. They should further be made with hidden seam lines to prevent chafing against players’ skin.
Safety
The value of safety among football cannot be overemphasized. Safety is normally provided by shin guards, socks and shoes. Modern shin guards are manufactured from Kevlar or titanium. These are both light but tough materials that offer protection to player’s legs on the pitch. Football shoes reduce the impact of leg to leg collisions during play.
Socks offer protection from moisture and keep feet dry, warm and free from blisters. Innovative socks from top football kit suppliers come with reinforced heels, mesh construction and ribbed arch support designs.
Style
Style is also important when it comes to footballers kits. This is especially true when it comes to modern jerseys and shorts. Jerseys are the selling point of football teams and hence they must have a stylish edge. Modern teams have come up with impressively designed and stylish replica jerseys that earn millions of pounds for the teams.
