"What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are small matters compared to what lies within us." This is what linguists but not only would they categorize as quotes. Famous sayings about life, about people that gathers is a phrase more than a million facts or observations could. It tells about human nature, but it can tell as well about nature itself, animals, supernatural forces, animals and future. These funny or wise word combinations have driven a huge attraction on man as they intrigue and the answer at the same time, they are simple but complicated at the same time, they old and timeless at the same time. Everyone loves quotes because they apply of each of us in a different manner.

To go to the extreme with the comparison, one could say they are like people, the same but very different. Some of us have dedicated their entire lives to make a compilation of words that others, before them, said in some circumstances without thinking they can be so famous and worldwide known. Important quotes usually have as parents writers and public figures, politicians and important members of the society, wise men and scholars, but also anonymous people, young or old that have expressed their feelings so great, it remained forever. They can inspire and they can demoralize, they can give strength or put to the ground, they can rise or they can fall, they can respect or insult someone, or some place.

In most of the cases the figurative sense is the only one grounding their existence but they can still be evoked when least expected. If you passed a certain age, there is no way you haven’t heard at least one a quote that made you think of it meant, of what it could have meant when it was said for the first time. You don’t have to play the cool guy role to sweep a girl’s knees with a cool word, you just have to remember something, and that something may describe you better than any psychologist can. Quotes are the fun but the hard part with an idiom. If you pass this line, you have a chance to understand the person who said it and the people, the whole nation he is part of. You understand the implication, the motive and the purpose. You can even use it for yourself to make a good impression or to let others say what you could have never said otherwise.
