You go to the bar and meet someone sexy and before you know it you are having sex. You go to a friend's party and meet someone sexy and before you know it you are having sex. Of course meeting someone who you find sexy doesn't always lead to sex, but there are many times in an average person's single life that this does happen. And most people don't think about diseases during this period in their life.
Your Sexual Partners May Be Affected and Not Even Know It
Unfortunately there are a lot of sexually transmitted diseases that could possibly be spread during sex including hepatitis B, HIV, and Genital Warts.
The sad truth is that your sexual partner may not even know they have a disease. Some STD's can be confused with other non STD symptoms like bladder infection or the flu. Some sexually transmitted diseases don't even have any prominent symptoms to speak of initially.
For instance HIV may not show any severe symptoms for years. This makes it highly plausible that a person with HIV may continue to have multiple sex partners for a long period of time. When you have sex with one person you have the potential to infect them and their future partners and so on and so forth. This could become a disastrous effect as far as STD's go.
The Best Way to Protect Yourself
I could say that abstinence would be the best way to protect yourself and that answer would be absolutely correct, but most people do not practice abstinence which makes safe sex essential to practice.
One way to practice safe sex is to only have sex with someone after being tested for disease. My husband and I did this when we first met. We both got tested and then were able to enjoy each other without any worry whatsoever when the test results came back. The test results didn't take that long, we had them back within a week or so. A week is not a lot of time to wait to have sex!
Another way to practice safe sex is to wear condoms during sex. This is the best method of protection if you are having unexpected sex with someone. Do not give in to the other person's request to not wear a condom or excuses about why a condom is not needed. Remember that your protection comes before any excuse they may have.
Also remember that condoms are not 100% guaranteed to protect you from a disease and that you are taking a chance every time you put one on that you may contract a disease.
The Real Truth About Keeping Yourself Disease Free
The truth is that if you are having sex with multiple partners then there is a chance of you acquiring a sexually transmitted disease. There is no way around it! Every time you have sex with someone you take the risk of contracting a disease.
The act of immediate random sex really isn't worth that risk in the long run. If you are someone who enjoys having sex with multiple partners then you may want to find yourself partners who are actively testing themselves for sexually transmitted diseases - and who have proof of that fact. This will ensure you are taking as little risk as possible. But even that isn't a guarantee.
The truth is if you have random sex then you are at risk for sexually transmitted diseases.
