Try searching for Sun Valley MLS and Sun Valley homes for sale sites and you'll be switched to sites that introduce the Ketchum, Wood River valley and Bellevue areas. This is because Sun Valley includes the region surrounding the city which covers the city of Ketchum, the valley area winding south to Hailey and to the greater Wood River valley where the city lies.

The Ketchum/Sun Valley area may be relatively small compared to the other towns at US both in size and town values but it offers big town sophistication. Professional skiers consider its neighbouring mountain, the famous Mt. Bald or commonly known as "Baldy", the best single ski mountain in the US. Nestled at a height of 9,150 feet, it accommodates great ski holidays and three gorgeous day lodges with a historic restaurant found at the mid mountain range. All of these establishments offer both casual and 5-star dining and accommodations for both winter and summer seasons.

The Sun Valley real estate, on the other hand, is no doubt one of the most sought after real estates in the country. It has immaculate mountains and meadows, clean air and clean water. With lots of people wanting to stay, it is undeniable that several housing development companies want to get a piece of the area. However, the local town government ensures that these developments do not interfere with the valley's natural setting by implementing a no hillside development policy and providing a limited supply of land to develop. There is no doubt that these efforts preserve the city's historic authenticity.

The region is considered one of the most pleasant mountain climates in the country. It has an average humidity of only 30% and 15 inches of rain per year. What makes this area pleasant is its frequent share of sunshine. It offers long days with 15 hours of sunshine in the summer while the Wood River Valley averages about 250 days of sunshine a year. No wonder the city deserves to have its name.

Latitude is never a problem for this area as far as good education is concerned. Several public schools near its perimeters offer their services in the area. Montessori schools are also available in Ketchum and Hailey. The College of Southern Idaho also operates a satellite program in Hailey and offers Associate of Arts Degrees and adult education courses in the area.

Who says high latitudes are not good for the health? Not when it is served by St. Luke's Wood River Medical Centre, located approximately ¼ mile south of the region. This full-service medical facility provides the health and emergency services needed by the community around the clock. This Medical Centre is in fact one of the major employers in the Wood River Valley.

The area hosts several activities that promote its social and cultural richness, unique character and quality of life, much of its efforts to offer a fulfilling life to its inhabitants. It has a lively arts community offering a variety of opportunities through over thirty organizations. Local and internationally known artists are represented through gallery exhibitions, concerts, theatre productions, dance productions, film festivals, lectures, opera and symphonic performances.
