Are you now running a small business enterprise with a small startup capital that barely has a budget for marketing? That is really understandable because new small enterprises are usually started with limited capital by people who were able to stash some money from their salaries or were approved small loans. Rather than not doing anything, they use their skills to make products that they can sell. But as with any business, you will need to market your products in order for people to know that you are selling them.
In your current situation, you can look at advertising your products through social networking sites. But you can also combine this with marketing postcards, especially for those people who you think are your target market but do not have membership in these social sites. If your products cater mostly to the crowd that are not tech-savvy, then you will have to invest in postcard printing because that is the easiest way to reach them.
- Speak with Photos. As compared to catalogs and brochures, postcards only have a small space. The standard size is only 4"x6" but you can expand it up to 6"x9". So that means you have to be concise in your message. And what better way to convey your message than through photographs.
What you are going to endeavor to do is like a postcard catalog. It will feature photos of your products on the front but you will not include individual descriptions; just photos and their names and product codes. The codes are there for efficient ordering and processing.
Since the bulk of your message will be contained in photos, you have to invest in making them look good. If you are going to take the photos, then invest a lot of time thinking about the perfect set up and taking several shots. You will have to choose which one shows the product best among the many pictures that you took. But if you do not have a good quality camera, there are many photo studios that offer product photography services. Look for those that offer studio rental per hour and are willing to save your digital files in a CD. With these kinds of studios, they only ask for a small price for their photographer’s fees while some even offer it for free. That is because these photographers are employed by the studio and the studio in turn is offering this service as a value add on for clients. Take advantage of this.
-
Make your own layout. This is not as hard at it seems, especially if you will only have squares in there that contain photos of your products. A basic knowledge about Adobe Photoshop can already allow you to design a nice postcard catalog of your products. Making your own layout will save you a lot of money from professional designer fees. Just remember to keep it simple especially if this is your first time to do a layout. Simple can be clear, concise, and better than a complicated layout that will just look cluttered in the end.
-
Your message. At the back side or the message area of your postcards, write a general description about your products, a brief instruction on how to order, and of course your contact details. The right hand side will be for the stamp and the address. These are just simple guidelines but these are really going to help you in your postcard printing.
