According to a set of Statistical Reports on the Internet Development in China recently , the number of bloggers in China exceeded 100 million in 2007. Other statistics predict that between 2012 and 2015, China will see popular blogs with hit counts of up 1 billion.
With the biggest numbers of Internet users , the authorities in China are getting on it's nerve as the internet is the mainstream media especially since the popularity of blogging has been raking up .Blogs actually have a history in China of about 7 years but the pace of growth has been astonishing . One of the main reason while Blogs is so Big in China is solely because due to the Chinese New Savvies era of the Internet and the growth of netizens.
China's online population reached 300 million in 2007 and is currently around 420 million. With such a population of netizens , it provides ample space for the growth and development of blogs .
Another good reason , is the culture and understanding of the Chinese Language ,which is used and taught in One China ,where the chinese see the blogs as the most accessible medium for them to express themselves on subjects like politics, economics, society, entertainment, culture, and history. This therefore brought forth participation from both blogger and readers for information ,especially when most bloggers, out of the billion population are common citizens whom express and discuss on major social issues and problems that interest people in the streets .
Hence China's netizens does follow and examine social trends and reader demands, and they drive forward relevant debate and many on forum for open discussion ,which worry the Chinese Government ,which put in censors to monitor to avoid abuse of the internet
Anything or whatever happens on the internet , the Internet community is able to relate fast through the Web especially when we witness Baidu ( search Engine ) has exceed and grown at such high speed that they even manage to get listed on NYSE ,attracting World wide investor to invest in Chinese Internet Tech Companies
Facebook clones like Ren Ren and Kaixin are attracting more and more users, and Twitter -like Sina Weibo which was set up by China's largest web portal, Sina.com has gradually grown in members to 80 million, with 10 million new accounts created each month. Sina predicts that their microblogging site will have accrued 150 million users by the end of this year
With such traffic and one third of China's 420 million-strong web community using the net for chatting , entertainment like downloading music , watching streaming movies, playing games and shopping .The e-commerce sector is a force to be reckoned with. In the first half of 2010, internet sales grew by 70% from 2010 with Taobao leading in the front as it is still the most popular web shopping portal and we expect many new enterprises will be cropping like Amazon China ,shoppinglu etc all bringing in new revenues to online shopping sites
Due to China's Main language is Mandarin .Chinese netizens have therefore a different approach to the Web compared to netizens in other countries . In the first place , they use Chinese to communicate ,mostly type in Chinese Characters , and usually the Chinese web portal are loaded with Multiple type of links with icons tune in with local chinese cultural Icon , some which symbolize Chinese literature characters , of which the People are brought up with ., which attract Chinese users to stick to only a few service providers .Twitter like Sina.weibo is one example ..
