You can also divide the list of references into professional references and personal references. This will help the employer to know your professional behavior and personal behavior.
You can also use the columned list to present your reference. The professional references can include the names of your colleagues, or your bosses while your personal references may include your close friends or relatives.
Employer will generally question about your work ethics and your attitude at work place. Your friends and relatives can comment about your personal character. This will give a balanced view of your character to your potential employer.
Unlike other resume sections, references in your resume are equally important. According to the recent trend, you can make a separate sheet describing the names of the references and carry this sheet at the time of personal interview instead of including them on your resume itself.
