A safe work environment is one of the most important parts of any job. Safety plays a bigger factor in some jobs and industries than others – the oilfield, construction, chemical plants and refineries to name a few. While most people that work in these environments understand the inherent risks they are taking, it is important that the industry and employer make the work environment as safe as possible. In most industries, there are safety standards and regulations with which corporations and businesses must comply. Because employees are a company’s most valuable asset, they generally do all they can to ensure a safe environment for their employees. One of the most basic safety measures that companies can take is to provide safe and durable equipment.

Gangways and gangway systems are used in many industries. The best gangways are designed with the maneuverability required for safety and efficiency in modern day loading, unloading, and sampling operations. There are many different types of gangways to choose from – 4-way adjustable gangways, marine gangways, electric gangways, hydraulic gangways and more. With the abundance of gangway systems available there is sure to be a system that fits any environment. Gangways are one of the most common pieces of safety equipment available. Companies can also get gangways that are slip-resistant, ensuring that employees are safe from falls. As much as companies are concerned with safety they are also concerned with their bottom line. Providing a safe environment allows employees to work most consistently, hopefully increasing production for the company.

Another piece of safety equipment that is especially important in construction and various other industries is fall protection. Fall protection lifeline systems are regularly employed in the railcar loading and unloading industry. Fall protection lifeline system makes it safer to access to the tops of hopper cars and hopper trucks for loading and unloading operations. A continuous fall protection system reduces the stress of operators on top of the vehicles by allowing for easy movement along single or multiple hopper cars or trucks. There are several types of fall protection systems available, two of which are cable fall protection and trolley fall protection. Cable fall protection systems feature shock-proof braking systems, lightweight construction and unrestricted harness access. Trolley fall protection systems deliver a safer fall arrest and virtually eliminate secondary falls.

Industries that require a great deal of loading and unloading could benefit from loading arms and hose arms. Loading arms are designed so that they can easily be extended to reach the farthest fill point in your loading environment. A high-quality loading arm can be easily handled by one operator without excessive pushing, pulling, or lifting. Keeping your operation running smoothly means having dependable equipment and systems to handle your bulk loading and unloading requirements. You can’t afford downtime for maintenance and repairs that cost you in both lost hours and money.

When it comes to your employees, you can never be too safe. With equipment like gangways, fall protection, loading arms and loading systems, companies can provide a safe and productive environment that is great for both employees and the bottom line.
