Showcasing The Offerings At Myrtle Beach To Attract Visitors
The old historic district of Downtown Myrtle Beach may soon wear a new look if the local people are triumphant in pushing through their plans to give the place a makeover. This area, located near to the Broadway Street has lost its shine ever since the Pavilion closed down. According to a SC Now report, locals are getting together and planning some modifications to this area that could bring back some of its lost wonder.
Showcasing the Offerings to Attract Visitors
A local citizen with a shop on Broadway Street identifies it in this way. He said that we have a number of intriguing shops down in this region however, not many individuals know that they exist. This is why the downtown area is merely being used as a convenient access road to reach important places here like the airport. The fact that the shops really don't really publicize their presence is working heavily against them, he says.
City Regulations
Laws in effect in the city of Myrtle Beach restrict businesses along the area surrounding Broadway Street from having sidewalk sales and also other ventures that could promote the merchandise available in the shop. Actually, the shops here are not even allowed to place outdoor lights or signs outside of the building. Which means that first time visitors and tourists may simply go by without even discovering that you will discover shops here. This is the main reason for the astonishing dip in foot traffic here, local people complain. However, the good news is that there are intentions to modify the zoning laws here which will favorably impact the area’s presence. Residents are keen on making this area more pedestrian friendly to ensure that both locals along with visitors will simply stroll down here and stop at shops that they find appealing.
Proposed Changes to the Regulations
Local residents along with businesses that have a presence along the Broadway Street have put forth some recommendations to the city council authorities. The planning commission has already evaluated these proposals and modifications will be recommended by this commission to the city council. Some of the changes that could occur here include allowing signage for shops, as well as permitting businesses to stay open for extended hours in the night until 2 a.m. It is expected that when the changes come into force, every business situated here will benefit quite drastically. If you have always wished to check out Myrtle Beach to take in the beautiful scenery and spectacular waters, then the time is now right. If you are fortunate you may just be one of the first travelers to experience the sights and sounds of a renewed downtown area too.
