The IT industry is growing by the day, and has quickly become a multi-billion dollar industry. With this expansion, of course, comes a higher demand for IT professionals who are highly trained and can provide the best level of services possible. Several ITIL training options now exist to ensure that current and aspiring professionals are aware of IT related standards, code of practices, and other information essential for gainful employment. Further, ITIL training is now the best way to get ahead in your career in IT Service, and land higher-caliber jobs in the future.

Because ITIL certification is becoming more and more common, anyone working in the IT industry should strongly consider this training. As with most industries, qualifications are a major consideration for employers looking to make a hire. Regardless of what school you went to, what jobs you've had in the past, or what extracurricular activities you've been involved in, there is no replacing this increasingly important certification in the industry today. Bottom line: People who have practical knowledge and awareness in the field are more in demand than those who solely rely on theoretical knowledge. ITIL training, of course, provides all the theoretical knowledge you need, but also provides hands-on opportunities to provide service and support in real world settings.

The other good news is that once you decide to seek certification in ITIL, you can even request that your organization sponsor you. Many organizations are now doing this, as they are aware that it's to their own benefit that their employees are well-trained and will ultimately provide better services to their business. This serves as yet, another form of proof that ITIL is here to stay, and further emphasizes the high level of value businesses are placing on its certification.

Once you acknowledge the importance of certification, the next thing you will need to decide is which training/certification is best for you. Your options are ITIL v2 and ITIL v3 (online and classroom settings available for both). As one would expect, v3 is essentially an updated version of v2. Although most of the basic information is the same, v3 is broken out into five core disciplines, instead of the original two. Further research should be done before deciding which makes the most sense for your own individual future, but hopefully you now realize ITIL certification is something you must consider if you plan to start or continue a career in IT services.
