Curtains are the furnishing accessory that has always made our houses more warm and comfortable, they are an element that any good interior designer choose always with selective attention. Whether we are talking about internal curtains or external blinds their ornamental value is now unquestioned, obviously together with their functional one.

Obviously the choice of an internal curtain is tightly connected with the interior designer personal taste but with no doubt it cannot be disconnected with other elements such as the style of the real estate, its size, the shape of the rooms, the materials and the colors. Nowadays the range of curtains and curtain materials available is so wide that it can satisfy any needs: from the classic soft curtain, with warm or neutral colors- that goes with the large rooms of the traditional style- to the vertical roller curtain, which has become essential in modern houses and that is used as an element that can improve both small spaces like the ones of the mini- apartments or of the metropolitan lofts and the big and bright ones of the houses with wide glass facades.

Equally important are the external blinds which, if accurately chosen, can be considerate as a real furnishing accessory that can improve the visual impact on a house, an hotel, a business building or a commercial centre. The solution nowadays preferred by the interior designers and by the constructors for business buildings is surely the roller curtains for vertical facades, while the range of options available for individuals is definitely wider and comprehends even bigger options for people who have a green space on the outside or for the ones who have a quite big terrace.

To the people that love to spend some time in the open air, constructor now often propose again a classic architectonic structure, the pergola, which seems to be the ideal solution, able to satisfy various needs. Is perfect both for people that have a quite big garden, but wants to have an open, covered space adjacent to the house and for people whose garden is not so big, and therefore have the necessity to optimize spaces. The most used material for this kind of structures is wood, often pine or spruce, which is treated with specific products that immunize it from atmospheric agents and from mildew and woodworm. The colors available for this structures are many, but most of the time natural wood and white are preferred. For the ones that want to create an external space that as needed could be isolated from the garden, on the beams of the pergola one can create some guides on which some external curtains can be positioned, creating almost a verandah.

Recently the pergola is used also as an alternative solution to the garage and it suits both for traditional-shape buildings, and for the ones with a more modern design, depending on the material in which it’s realized. A wood pergola/ roofing, for example, is definitely more adapt to a modern house.
