College is known for a couple of things; receiving an education and attending parties. Lots of people go to social gatherings and want to unwind and have some fun. The latest sensation to hit off campus parties is a game known as beerpong.

Ask anyone attending a college or university what beerpong is and they'll tell you it is the most popular drinking game being played everywhere. Parties and drinking typically go hand in hand, so why not put them together? Both men and women can engage in this game and no one even cares who loses.

To be able to play this game, you will want to find an area large enough. You will need a surface much like that of a ping pong table. Also required are plastic cups, ping pong balls and, obviously, beer. Finding space big enough to put the table could be the biggest obstacle. Not only do you need room for the table and the players, don't forget that this event will want to be watched by everyone else at the party as well. An ideal spot for the game to take place is either outside or in a garage like environment. This enables many people to view the game and allows for a mess to be made with little property damage.

The game is basically organized the same way each time. 8 to 10 cups are positioned into a V shape on both sides of the table. Then beer is added into the cups filling them upto a quarter or a third of the way up. Even though the set up is the same, the host can get inventive with the rules if they want. Nothing says the rules can't be adapted to suit your own party.

Two squads are assembled. Usually a team is going to contain 2-3 players, but more can be on a team if you wish. To enhance the excitement, many come up with imaginative nicknames for their squads. Since teams can be built of same sex or coed players, names can end up getting to be somewhat creative.

As play gets under way, each team will take turns trying to bounce the balls from their side of the table into a cup on the opposing end. If the ball lands in a cup, the players on that end of the table must drink the beer within the cup. Then its the adversaries turn to take a crack at bouncing the ball. This back and forth play carries on until either side has been forced to consume all of the alcohol from their cups. But the game isn't done yet. Not only do the losers have to finish off the alcohol on their end, they also must drink any excess beer along the winning end of the table as well.

The tables used for this unique drinking game can in fact be purchased commercially. Believe it or not, people will even have personalized beerpong tables built to their own personal specifications. If money is an issue, you might decide you are simply going to try and construct one yourself. Because it is pretty much a ping pong table, it's not tough to do. So stop thinking about what you are going to do at your future social gathering. Beerpong is an excellent way to entertain and get the party moving. Remember that after the fun has been had, encourage your guests to be responsible and don't drive drunk.
