There are a variety of reasons to use a free WordPress theme over a premium WordPress theme. A few of the reasons are they are free, easy to find through WordPress and most of the licensing allows you to do what you want with them. Two WordPress themes created by WordPress are installed for free. So if all this is fact, why would someone go out and spend money on a premium theme?

There are a number of reasons why a blogger or online marketer would pay for a premium theme. The first reason has to do with support. Often times the free themes lack support. Just because they are part of the WordPress library does not mean they will be support with future updates.

What does this mean to the person who is using the free theme? When WordPress does its major updates to the platform (parent code) all paid premium themes are immediately updated. Yet free themes may be abandoned by the creators which will require the user to either pay an expensive WordPress programmer to correct the issue or fix the issue on their own.

Yet with a premium theme the support is there when the theme is bought and also the support is there when it comes time for WordPress updates. Marketers and bloggers are paying for the peace of mind and to keep their websites up and running smoothly for their clients.

When your livelihood is dependent on a theme working, it makes sense to put a little money into it.

One other reason to use a premium theme are the features. Finding the same feature sets in a free theme is virtually impossible. Premium themes have taken their features and functionalities to the next level. Why use a free theme that is basically barebones, when a marketer or Blogger can spend a little money on a premium theme and basically have a business in a box. Using a free theme would require them to purchase many plugins, have scripts created and pay for a whole lot of other things just to get the theme to support their business. It makes more sense for a internet marketer or Blogger to pay for their themes, versus using the free versions.

After reading this article, you can see why it makes sense to buy a theme versus using a free one. After sitting back and calculating the cost needed to get a free theme up to par, it makes sense to go the paid premium route.
