The weight battle is a constant struggle for most people. There is one major change you can make to ensure a healthier lifestyle. It is as simple as changing your diet. Just switching from your high calorie meals, drinks and snacks will show an improvement in your weight and health. Of course a good exercise routine is also beneficial.
Eating healthy meals does not mean meals without flavor. There are many healthy meals you can eat that will still excite your taste buds. For example, instead of that meat lovers pizza with a side of cheesy bread you can do a veggie lovers pizza with a side salad. This way you are still satisfying your pizza craving but cutting down on grease, fat, and carbs. Pizza is actually healthy if you have it in moderation and think about your toppings. Another idea for healthy meals would simply be pay attention to everything you are putting into your mouth. You can do this by keeping a food journal. Write down everything you drink and eat along with the caloric intake. you will be surprised how quickly you will want to change your eating and drinking habits once it is staring you in the face in black and white.
Believe it or not, drinks can pack on the pounds and even cause serious health risks such as diabetes. Those yummy blended super charged specialty coffee drinks are the biggest culprits. Some of those coffee drinks contain nearly an entire days caloric intake in one drink. Energy drinks are packed with so much caffeine and sugar that not only will you crash hard but you will do a number on your heart. There are many healthy drinks out there that you can have instead, and some will even give you the boost you need to get through the day. Some healthy drinks may include, water of course-you can even use frozen fruit instead of ice cubes for a touch of flavor, tea-try honey for a sweetener, and fresh squeezed fruit or vegetable juice is healthy also.
Starting your day off right will also give you energy. A healthy breakfast is the key to a healthy meal plan for the rest of your day. Oatmeal, or an egg-white omelet will keep you full longer and provide you with protein and whole grain. Instead of having white bread with cream cheese along with your omelet skip the bread or opt for whole wheat with plain yogurt. Yogurt is packed full of probiotics that keep you healthy and whey protein that helps to dissolve fat. Adding fresh fruit to your breakfast is always a great way to enrich your healthy breakfast.
When cutting down the caloric intake that your body is used to you may find yourself a little hungry in between meals. It is okay to snack, in fact, there are many healthy snacks you can have. Switch out that candy bar for a sugar free granola bar, switch out the dish of candy on your desk for a dish of slivered almonds, fresh fruits and vegetables are always a great switch also. Healthy snacks can also be worked into your daily eating habits so that you are not tempted to hit the office vending machine. If you prepare yourself by having some healthy snacks with you, then the unhealthy temptations will be easier to fight off.
Once you make the switch to a healthier diet plan and you see the results in weight and health you will be more apt to stick to it. The holidays are tough on healthy diets, just remember to pace yourself. Drink a whole glass of water before you start eating and start with the salad. You can have dessert but remember, everything in moderation.
