Grammy Award-winning British funk and soul vocalist and songwriter Seal will be coming to Australia for a tour in February 2012.

Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, known simply as his stage name Seal, has won multiple major music awards throughout a career spanning more than 30 years. Some of his more notable awards include four Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Award for his music video "Kiss from a Rose"; one of his best known music singles which also appeared in the soundtrack to the 1995 American superhero film Batman Forever. Since starting his career in the early 1980s, Seal has sold more than 20 million albums around the world. Seal is also known for his marriage to German model Heidi Klum, current host of the fashion design reality show "Project Runway."

Seal's upcoming Australian tour will help promote his latest album, "Soul 2," which is currently available to Australian funk and soul fans. "Soul 2" is Seal's eighth studio album, following "Commitment" (2010), "Seal Hits" (2009) and "Soul" (2008). "Soul 2," produced by acclaimed Canadian music producer David Foster and Seal's long-time collaborator Trevor Horn.

This album mainly consists of classic funk and soul from the 1970s by artists such as Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, Bill Withers, and Marvin Gaye. The album includes 11 tracks, which include "Wishing on a Star," "Love T.K.O.," "Ooh Baby Baby," "Let's Stay Together," "What's Going On," "Love Don't Live Here Anymore," "Back Stabbers," "I'll Be Around," "Love Won't Let Me Wait," "Lean On Me," and "Oh Girl." Seal will perform these funk songs from the album, as well as selections of his greatest hit and fan favourite singles, including "Kiss from a Rose," "Crazy," "Fly Like an Eagle," "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," and "If You Don't Know Me By Now," during the Australian tour.

In a September 2011 press release for the album, Seal said: "In my twenty years on a journey in the music industry, two things remain constants, the voice and more importantly, the song. I continue to make music because of the chance that this day could indeed be the day I write another great song or have the opportunity to sing one. The songs on Soul 2 are a natural evolution in the arc of soul music from the songs on the first Soul album -- and they are all-time classics."

The Australian branch of the "Soul 2" tour follows a three-month tour throughout Europe and concludes Seal's touring for the time being. Tickets for the Australian tour went on sale beginning November 10 as part of a special fan pre-sale. Seal’s last tour in 2009 had both critics and fans raving.

Seal will be performing at the AIS Arena in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory on Thursday, February 9; Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley, in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday, February 12; Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria on Wednesday, February 15; the Adelaide Entertainment Center in Adelaide, South Australia on Thursday, February 16; and the Sydney Entertainment Center in Sydney, New South Wales on Saturday, February 18.
