A positive attitude is easy when you:

  1. Live in the current moment 2) Let go of all thoughts

You don’t have to work at it. Your natural state of mind is positive. Plus, it is happy and stress-free as well.

So why are you negative and want to establish a positive attitude? Because you are living in the past and the future. The current moment is perfect. Your positive attitude is in the current moment, the here and now.

Do you remember when you were very young and your attitude was positive? You were happy and carefree. The difference between then and now is, you used to live for the moment and now, you are constantly dwelling on the past or what you want to become in the future. Does that sound like a fair assessment?

There are four human emotions which are happy, mad, sad and fearful. Only "happy" is in the current moment. "Mad," "sad," and "fearful" only exist when you think about the past or the future. A positive attitude is within the "happy" emotion. A negative attitude and all negative states of mind are found outside of the here and now. You probably won’t believe that until you pay closer attention to your attention.

As you are reading this, in the current moment, your attitude is positive, right? But as soon as you think about past failures or negative predictions of the future, what happens to your attitude?

Think about the times when you are engaged in your favorite activities. You have a positive attitude, you are happy and you are stress-free. That is because you are focused on what you are doing at the current moment.

It’s a simple concept, wouldn’t you agree? As long as you don’t have any thoughts like, "Nothing is that simple" (memory of the past) or "Sure, as long as I’m doing my favorite activities" (negative prediction of the future).

So what happens if you have negative thoughts of the past or the future? You simply let them go. You can’t control negative thoughts that spontaneously come to mind, but you can control your reaction to those thoughts.

Every time you get those negative thoughts, that pull you away from the current moment, acknowledge their presence saying, "Negative thought," or "Thinking of the past," or "Thinking of the future," let them go, then make the correction, focusing on what you are doing at that moment. You might even follow it up saying, "I want to live in the here and now." This is how to train your mind which has been drifting for a long, long, time.

It won’t take long until you will instantly be aware that you’re drifting and start living right here, right now, with a positive attitude, happy and stress-free. It’s a beautiful thing.
