Many people have anxiety about learning a new language, but it does not have to be hard. In fact, learning a new language can be a lot of fun! Focus on the opportunities that speaking another language can bring. You'll have an easier time when you travel. For one thing, it can make traveling much simpler. Not only that, but you may find you can talk to more people right where you live. Many jobs require applicants to know at least two languages. For people who live in the U.S., the language that is spreading most quickly is Spanish.
In many parts of America, many people speak Spanish rather than English. That's why people who are bilingual and can translate Spanish are highly in demand right now.
Find a Spanish course available on CD. They're great if you're a bit shy to learn a new language. You can just listen to the words, and then hear how they're used in full sentences. With a CD, there'll be no worries about mistakes in front of others, plus the material is of equal quality as found in a classroom. Another good reason to invest in a good CD course for learning Spanish is that you can take the courses with you! You can just use a CD player, or you can download lessons on an MP3 player and you're all set! There are no limits to where you can learn Spanish.
As you listen to Spanish, pay close attention to what is being spoken. This will improve your 'hearing' for it. Many languages are more oral than they are written. As long as it's a 'living' language, you'll still have to learn to hear it. Memorizing the alphabet, or writing a proper sentence, only takes you so far. Naturally, you'll want to be able to understand other people when they speak to you. The best results will come from listening to the language whenever possible. When you're able to positively identify the language after hearing a few words spoken, then that's a sure sign you're well on your way to learning it.
You really can achieve fluency with right practice. Just forget about it comes out, the important thing is to speak the language as much as you can. It will help you a lot if you substitute your native language with the words you do know in your new language. For Spanish, replace "one" with "uno" and "dinner" with "cena." If you do this as much as you can, the new words will soon feel like 'old' words. You'll know and understand the new words when you hear them used. This technique will really help you understand your new language when you talk to others who are fluent in it.
There are many good reasons to learn a second language, but discovering the best way can be difficult.
Perhaps you're thinking about getting a book from some bookstore. You can check out classes, or even start meeting people who are fluent in the language. There are a lot of options available when you want to learn Spanish (or any other language). Make sure you enjoy it!
