There are a number of laptops available in the market these days. With each manufacturer claiming that their laptop is the best incorporating cutting edge technologies into them. There is a new laptop being launched almost every week with a plethora of them being launched at electronic exhibitions.

So how can one decide which is the best laptop among them all? The fact is the laptops are so closely matched in features that if you declare a particular model of laptop as the best. You will have at least 10 other laptops manufactured by other computer manufacturers that has the same configuration. Besides each laptop fits a particular need or demand for it in the market. So there cannot be one laptop that is best suited to the needs of every individual in the computer users’ universe.

So how about we build our own version of the best laptop and see how long it takes for the manufacturers to actually build one and launch it in the market.

Display – The best laptop should have a mutitouch touch sensitive surface with support for 3D graphics rendering. It must have the capacity to recognize gestures and sensors and cameras that can be configured to track retina movements. We could have an input mechanism where you blink twice in quick succession or focus on a particular button to press it.

Storage – The storage of the future is already here in the form of cloud computing where you store your data on cloud farms and access it from any device you want. The rate of transfer and reading and writing data needs to be very fast.

Keyboard – maybe it is time to bid goodbye to keyboards. Touch screen surface keyboards with haptic feedback could easily replace the little keys on your laptop.

Sound – How about a technology where you would not need earphones the sound waves can be focused on a user so only they can hear and not disturb the people around them.

Processor – A faster and smaller processor which consumes very little power and draws energy from an embedded solar panel. Overheating has always been a problem with processor so we need a processor which can remain cool at all times.

Frame – A screen that can fold along with the motherboard just like you would roll a piece of paper and slip it in your pocket. With foldable solar panels forming a transparent layer or lining the back of the screen to draw power from the sun to run the laptop.
