Load lifters or lifting equipments have been used since ancient times. Today, the lifting equipments have become an integral part of various industries including construction, energy, mining and transport industry. All these industries involve lifting and moving of heavy objects and without lifting equipments it is hard to imagine the existence of these industries.

With the advancement in load lifting equipment manufacturing technology, these machines are available in different forms and are used for myriad of purposes. You can find lifting equipment for all kinds of jobs to meet your different needs. The most common types of load lifting machines are –

• Cranes:

Cranes are oldest and the most widely used lifting machines. There are several types of cranes available today, including huge tower cranes, sign cranes and fixed cranes. These cranes have different uses and are used in almost every industry.

• Hoists and winches:

Both winches are hoists lift loads that are attached to it. The winches are attached to a winding cable around a spoke. Hoist and winches are widely used during the 19th century mainly in the ports or harbors.

• Forklift trucks:

This load lifting equipment is widely used in small scale industries that require moving or lifting heavy objects or bulk things around the industry efficiently and quickly. These trucks significantly increase the productivity of the industry and enhance their output.

Apart from the above mentioned lifting equipments there are several other fittings used for lifting purposes including chain slings, cherry pickers, web slings or rope slings. All these fittings have different uses, while the web slings are used for lifting delicate loads, the chain slings are used for lifting delicate and heavy materials.

Safety Regulations:

The manufacture of load lifters including bucket trucks is regulated by LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipments Regulations) to ensure that these equipments are safe for the workers. However, while using such equipments there are always risk involved while dealing with heavy objects. While operating such machines you must aware of its safety regulations and it should be maintained properly. As per the LOLER regulations you must know the following rules before using lifting equipments:

Before using the equipment for lifting purpose it is important to check if the machine is strong and stable to be used. You must check if the machine is not overworked by lifting more weight than it is designed for. You must also make sure that the machine is setup correctly so as to avoid any mishap.

You must make sure that the lifting machine has all the safety information clearly displayed on it for the operators. Workers may not remember always how to use each part of the equipment and in such situations the safety information would be of great use especially if the operator is a new employee.

Before allowing any person to operate the lifting equipment it is important that the person receives adequate training on how to use the machine and its safety regulations. People working around the lifting machine must also be trained to know the safety precautions.

Thus, by knowing the safety regulation of the load lifters, you must be able to operate it in a better way.

Irrespective of the type of load lifters you use must be aware of its safety regulations. This will greatly help you to use the bucket trucks to its maximum efficiency.
