Find a good party location.

If the shower is to be a surprise you shouldn't plan to have it at the house of the mom to be. You will need to make sure that the location is sizable enough to accommodate all the guests, but not too formal. Typically these events are simply a group of friends getting together, so it is often nicer to be able to loosen up in someone's house or yard than have to be on your best behavior in a cafe. It's less expensive too. Of course, you might require additional supplies or seating.

Obtain the decorations together.

You can have pink or blue put together adornments if you know what sex the baby is going to be, but you can also pick other neutral colors that can still make sense within a baby theme. You can get ceiling streamers with baby or animal shapes cut out of them, or balloons with storks printed on them or a full host of other arrangements ranging from funny and cute to classy and pricey.

Supply some nosh.

Be certain that there is some sort of meal for your guests. Even if you are executing the party on a low budget you will need to organize some snacks. Be sure you check if anyone has food allergies, and if youngsters are coming you will require child pleasant foods as well. You will also need drinks. Decide if you feel it is right to serve alcohol considering the mum to be won't be able to partake.

Be certain there is a safe area for babies to hang-out, if mothers with children are invited.

If you don't do this then you will have to be eternally examining that the children aren't' getting in to trouble or messing with things they shouldn't be.

Put together a present list.

If you circulate a present list, once you know which people are coming, then you will be certain that the mom to be doesn't get lots of comparable gifts. If you know there are gifts she needs, then make sure you put these on the list. Or, suggest that she organize a registry. Try to make sure there are low cost presents as well so some people don't feel as though they have to buy a gift that is more high-priced than they want or can afford.

Remember to mail out the invites well in advance!

If you don't tell people when the shower is then all your efforts will be wasted! Or, people may already have other plans. If you send written invites they are much more likely to remember to come to the shower than if you just mention it in person or make a call. They will have a composed reminder that they can leave in a prominent place in their home so that they don't forget to come!
