If you are a business owner with an office then you’ll know a badly designed office can make work life difficult and give a bad impression to potential clients. So if you want to improve your business with a few simple changes then try one of these office design ideas.
Choose Open Plan
If you’re going to undertake a complete office overhaul then why not consider going open plan. An open plan office is a great way to increase your employees sense of teamwork and will make it easier for staff at different levels to communicate. Before you opt for open plan take the amount of noise in your office into account. If you’re office gets a lot of traffic or the phones are constantly ringing then choosing open plan could cause a noise pollution problem.
Add an Art Piece
Art is great in offices because it adds a focal point to rooms and injects some colour and fun. Modern abstract art is a good choice because you can choose really bright colours and most people will find it hard to dislike. If you’ve got a wall to fill go for one big piece rather than lots of little pictures which will look bold and confident, reflecting back on your business.
Choose Comfy Chairs
When creating a stylish modern office it can be tempting to choose the most contemporary or avant-garde furnishings. Although that’s fine for desks, when it comes to seating, comfort is key so make sure that the chairs you choose are sturdy and comfortable enough for staff to sit on for several hours.
Add Personal Touches
Many business owners often feel that adding personal touches like photos on desks to an office doesn’t create the right impression of professionalism. In fact, studies have shown that office visitors like to see the personal touches because it gives the impression that staff feel comfortable and happy at work.
Think of your Floor
Noise is becoming a major problem in offices and can seriously affect the health of workers. One way to reduce noise pollution in your office is by swapping hard floors for carpet. If you have lots of staff walking around then a carpet will cut out the click clack of heels.
Improve your Common Spaces
If you have common spaces like break rooms in your office make sure that they look as good as possible. If your office break room is messy and neglected it could make staff feel that their needs are being neglected to, so put a bit of effort into making the common space in your office a nice place to be to let staff know that you appreciate all their hard work.
Increase your Storage
Keeping your office tidy and organised is one of the most important ways to ensure that you and your staff are as productive as possible, so make sure your office is kept well organised by increasing your storage. A neat storage facility is much nicer to look at than a pile of paperwork and will ensure that important documents are kept safe and sound.
Let the Air In
Often people think about how their office looks but not how it feels. A stuffy office can hinder workers from getting on with things and make staff feel lethargic so make sure you get plenty of air into your office by opening those windows and letting the breeze through.
If you are unable to open the windows in your office then think about installing an air conditioning or air filtration system which will keep the office atmosphere light and airy and decrease the likelihood of office illnesses spreading through your staff.
