Can you imagine being 15, 25 or even 100 pounds lighter within the next year? It's quite possible if you know how to. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you can safely and steadily lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, but doctors don’t recommend any more than that, it could be dangerous to your health.

The kinds of foods you eat today and the quantities of it will determine if we're successful at keeping the weight off. You don't have to drastically reduce the amount of food that you eat if you eat food that is packed with nutrients and is not too high in calories. You can eat plenty of food throughout the day and still lose weight. The best way to lose weight is to minimize the amount of fats, salt and sugar you eat, that alone will reduce calories and should help you lose weight.

Although your body needs nutrients that can be found in vegetables, fruit, beans and nuts to work at its best, you should begin to replace fatty foods and foods with added sugars with better choices that will lead to fewer calories, you will feel satisfied and lose weight. The best way to lose weight is to minimize the amount of fats, salt and sugar you eat.

You'll never look at water the same way once you understand how it helps you lose weight. When you are eating right and exercising on a regular basis, your body wants to eliminate that extra fat. But, sometimes your body needs a little help and water is just what it needs. Water helps your body get rid of unwanted toxins, by flushing out by products of fat.

Drinking soda, milk or juices does not have the same effect as water does. Thus, you'll be adding calories which will be adding extra weight. Another plus of drinking lots of water is, it makes you feel full so that you don’t consume as much food. Drink a glass of water before each meal and you'll see that you won’t eat as much, thereby cutting calories. Sometimes you may think you're hungry, when all you really need is a nice, tall glass of water.

We all know nutrition plays an important role in losing weight and keeping it off but so does exercise. Walking is a great exercise, not only is it free but it is a low impact exercise that boosts your mood and burns calories. If you believe you have to workout extremely hard or jump up and down to get results and lose weight, that’s not true.

Studies have shown that walking at a quick pace is just as good for the heart and burning calories as it is for running. Walking is one exercise most people can do. It strengthens your bones and muscles, yet is easier on your joints compared to a high impact workout. Walking is a whole body workout that works your arms and legs, improves your posture and gets your heart pumping. Walking releases feel good hormones, called endorphins which boosts your mood and leaves you wanting more.

Weight loss does not have to be difficult and your workout routine doesn’t have to be either. Walking to lose weight is one of the best things you can do along with cutting out fats, sugar and salt. You just have to make the commitment to put on your walking shoes and walk 5 to 7 days a week, along with watching what you eat. By keeping up with your exercise routine and a sensible diet you should lose all of the weight you want and keep it off.
