Since the launch of the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 there have been some great deals on the Nintendo 3DS. After a shaky start at an unjustifiable price, the 3DS sales were rescued by a price drop of almost £100! This turned poor sales figures into record breaking ones, the 3DS sold 2.2 million more units than the original DS did in its first year.
So far we have had 6 different versions of the Nintendo 3DS, the original Aqua Blue Colour and Cosmos Black that were the two that were available at release. Then 6 months later came the first additional colour - The Metallic Red. Then the Coral Pink version a few months later was released.
What do you get in your 3DS box?
Apart from your 3DS console you will also get a charging cradle, a 2GB SD Card, a Stylus, an AC Adapter, an AR Card, an operations manual and a quick start guide. The 3DS console has a 3.53 inch widescreen LCD Display on the top screen, which is where the 3D action is displayed. The bottom screen is a 3.02-inch LCD Touch screen with a 320x240 pixel resolution.
Special Edition Consoles
Special edition consoles are released from time to time to mark certain occasions. This is an effective marketing technique to attract new customers to purchase the latest console. Sometimes the unique design can attract hardcore fans, as well as new fans looking to purchase a new console. These special editions allow designers to use their imagination to develop a great-looking console with the hope of reinvigorating sales.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary of Zelda, Nintendo released a limited edition Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time bundle on November 11th. The system was marked with the emblem of Hyrule and golden-coloured embellishments. It is a really good looking handheld console and came bundled with a copy of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which was the N64 Version but digitally re-mastered for the Nintendo 3DS.
On the 2nd of December Mario 3D Land was released and was celebrated with a special edition Ice White Console which became very popular over the Christmas period. Bundled in was a brand new shiny white console with the Mario 3D Land game.
We don't yet know of any future bundles but Nintendo are always keen to bring out more colours and special edition consoles and there was a great deal of them for the DS! So we expect to see some more in the near future.
