With all the diseases rampant in our society, we’re all left wondering how to live longer and healthier. Think about it – high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, asthma, cancer, autism, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, ALS, ADD – name any single disease, and they are all epidemic at the same time. A lot of "experts" will tell you that these are common genetic diseases and conditions that "run in your family." However, the experts are definitely wrong. If all these diseases were purely genetic, your ancestors and the entire human race would have died out centuries ago, if not millennia.

The Importance of Living a Healthy Lifestyle

The real cause of the exploding prevalence of all these chronic degenerative diseases is unnatural lifestyles and unhealthy diets brought upon by deception and misguided choices made under the guise of "healthy" and convenient eating habits. These diseases of modern civilization are a manifestation of our straying from our ancestor’s traditions of living a healthy lifestyle. Look back about 100 years ago, and you’ll see a large majority of these "common genetic diseases" didn’t exist. This shows the promise of the prevention of chronic disease through proper nutrition.

Our way of life has changed rapidly. Just a few generations ago, the dinner table and food held an almost sacred place as part of our society. The acquisition, preparation and consumption of food were the focus of a large proportion of all activities. Because of the relative scarcity of food and the amount of effort, planning and energy required to bring this food to the dinner table, meals weren’t something taken for granted.

Today, with a vast majority of people whose daily activities are far removed from farming and agriculture, so-called "nourishing traditions" passed on from generation to generation have been replaced by corporate spin masters. The result of this misinformation is the processed pseudo-food filling the aisles of every supermarket and health food store in America. Even if you have "done a lot of research," you as a consumer are truly unaware of what constitutes a healthy diet. This is NOT YOUR FAULT! You’ve been lied to for decades, and now it’s time to learn the truth. The truth will set you free from disease.

The Prevention of Chronic Disease

Picture your life without ailments and ills. Every day can be filled with vigor as long as you’re able to see past the deceptions that have previously plagued you and fuel your body. But how?

• How to Live Healthier and Longer with the Power of Nutrition

How important is diet when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, longevity and prevention of chronic disease? Extremely important. Your dietary choices affect your cells, tissues and organs. Poor food choices will lead you to have adverse consequences. Unfortunately, if you’re like most people, you’ve been consuming food products based on the recommendations of persons whose knowledge of nutrition has been poisoned by corporate interests whose major focus is on their profitability, not your health. If your doctor has you on a list of drugs to treat a bunch of symptoms and diseases, and if you feel miserable every day, then you should look at what you’re eating and re-evaluate what you buy, prepare and use to nourish your body.

• Nutrient-Depleted Food = Longer Shelf Life = More Profits

In an attempt to make food easier to prepare, more readily available and more profitable, the American food industry has essentially destroyed everything that’s healthy and good about what we eat. Preservatives, additives, chemicals – these devitalizing agents have been processed and added to our products and recipes making living a healthy lifestyle difficult. Essential ingredients (like vitamins and minerals) have been removed because doing so gives foods longer shelf lives. In short, refined grains have replaced whole grains. The food companies may put certain synthetic vitamins and minerals back into the foods to make them supposedly more healthy, but, unfortunately, so many foods in the Western diet contain the same base foods – wheat, corn, soy, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, vegetable oils, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, food additives and/or preservatives – that you‘re consuming the same depleted nutrients over and over again.

In addition, many Americans have reverted to using frozen or canned fruits and vegetables, which are usually bereft of their vitamins and minerals. The fancy TV dinners advertised as healthy are even worse. Wrapped in plastic, stabbed with a fork to create some ventilation and thrown in a microwave oven for a few minutes – this so-called food is most certainly not a healthy alternative. If you are an average American, your food is actually made up of non-foods.

The good news is, you don’t have to be sick, you don’t have to be fat, you don’t have to be tired, you don’t have to suffer from chronic degenerative disease, you don’t have to have arthritis or high blood pressure or diabetes or the majority of those so-called "common genetic diseases". Almost all these conditions are a result of imbalances in your life and, primarily, imbalances in your diet. With the help of alternative holistic healing, in which you take a good look at the root cause of your problems instead of just treating the symptoms, you’ll learn how to live healthier and longer.
