I know you are very concerned about the traffic on your blog. You want to have many visitors that love to read anything you write. No wonder you try so very hard to get more traffic. Well, sometimes – you try a little too hard. And guess what? Instead of getting more readers and fans, you scare them away. You may not even know about it!
That is why I prepared a list of ten sure ways to bore your readers, scare them away – basically assure that no one will visit your blog and it will slowly, but surely die! So if you don’t want this to happen, try learning a thing or two from this list.
- The title doesn’t matter.
Don’t think about the title, write anything. It really doesn’t matter. All that matters is the content, right? Wrong. Don’t settle for anything that pops into your head. You may think you are being creative, but probably, you are just discouraging potential readers. Title of your article is the one thing that can attract people that don’t even know your blog. It is the best way to get new readers, so take your time with it, don’t be hasty.
- Writing ANYTHING That Pops Into Your Head!
The less thinking the better outcome. The less time you spend on your article, the more time you’ll have to watch TV/stay online on Facebook. Don’t let something like a "subject" of an article mess with your head. If you want to add something – do it! That’s called being artistic!
Well, actually no. That’s called being a douche. A blogging douche. It probably one of the most irritating things when you are reading an article that just doesn’t make sense.
- The Long, The Better
Have you ever heard about this new thing called "subheadings"? Explain me why the hell would you bore your reader writing one, huge paragraph, 60 lines long? Why? How you’re going to emphasize the important point you make in the story? I know people told you it’s all about the content, but that doesn’t mean you should put it all in those long blocks of grey text.
- Formal Language Is The Key
Write in a dry, academic way (you don’t have to finish colleague to do so), with plenty of long words. Try sounding as smart as hell, even when you are writing about a lost puppy or a child’s game.
It is a blog you are running, not a scientific journal (and if you ARE running a scientific journal than what are you doing here? Are you THAT bored? Shouldn’t you be doing something more productive? Go on! Get back to your REAL work!). So remember that you are writing for normal people not for a bunch of posers interested only in the super-smart language.
- It’s All About You. The Ego Problem
It’s your blog, right? Yes. And you would really like some publicity, like to be recognized, be at least a bit famous. So all you have to do, is make the blog about you. Every example you give should tell another story. Who needs experts, your life is so full of adventures you will find a story fitting EVERY situation. Anyway – people should learn as much as possible of my experiences (that is just a little bit exhibitionistic).
Oh! And don’t forget to ALWAYS to use "I" as often as possible. Don’t even bother with "you", like you are writing FOR the readers. No, no, no! You are writing solely for yourself.
Had enough?
That’s the end of part 1. Be sure to catch part 2 and learn even more about the best ways to make sure no one will read your blog. I assure you that you will find five more ways to bore your readers and loose followers.
So look out for PART2
