Life in the 21st century is the way it is thanks to certain technological advances that we've all learnt to take for granted. Sometimes it's worth taking a moment to think about what life would be like had it not been for some of these high tech inventions.

VoIP Services

Voice over Internet Protocol, commonly referred to more briefly as VoIP is the technology that allows us to make free and cheap calls online to friends, family and business associates the world over. Without it, computer programmes such as Skype and mobile phone apps such as Viber and iCall wouldn't be able to exist.

It's thanks to this advanced technology that living abroad has been made so much easier. No longer do people hesitate to leave their homeland because of the difficulties in staying in touch with friends and family. While back in the day people had to rely on letters to keep in touch, or very expensive international phone calls, nowadays it needn't cost a penny to get in touch with your loved one.

Credit and Debit Card Payment Systems

Those little rectangular pieces of plastic that so many of us own at least one of have made payment processing so much easier, and have lead to the massive rise of internet shopping.

Forgetting to bring cash with you when shopping is no longer an issue in most situations as supermarkets and other retail outlets accept debit and credit card payments. Most people are so familiar with the situation when a sales assistant prompts you to put your card in the machine and enter your PIN number.

When it comes to online shopping, it's only been made possible thanks to the widespread availability of payment cards. Buying flights, hiring cars and even just doing your weekly food shopping is just a series of clicks away.

ATM Management Software

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) line the streets of most major cities worldwide, and do feature less prominently in smaller towns and villages, as well as transport hubs such as petrol stations, airports and stations. They are designed to make our money much more accessible. Thanks to their presence, people no longer have to make such regular visits to banks, and withdraw large sums of money at once.

ATM management software is a sophisticated piece of technology that only allows access to personal funds if provided with the right credentials: a PIN number corresponding to the user's debit or credit card.
