An excursion to the Grand Canyon is an exciting twist on any Las Vegas vacation, and Grand Canyon coaches give you a great way to experience this glorious region. More than five million people are drawn to the Grand Canyon annually, and many of them don't like to fly or are on a limited budget. Fortunately, they can see the Grand Canyon by bus. Motor coach tours are one of the best ways to experience the Grand Canyon's spectacular sights.
Most of the motor coach tours to the Grand Canyon depart from the Vegas Strip. Typically, they offer complimentary pickup and drop-off service for passengers staying at the Vegas Strip hotels. Not having to navigate the traffic snarls in Vegas is a terrific perk in your tour package. If your hotel isn't on the Strip, you will need to make your own arrangements for getting to the designated departure point, but you can simply call a cab.
When you tour the Grand Canyon by bus, you will see some spectacular sights. The West Rim is about 120 miles from Vegas and is the closest rim. It includes scenic views of the Colorado River, and Guano Point, and Eagle Point among other notable landmarks. The Grand Canyon Skywalk (the Glass Bridge) is also at the West Rim and gives canyon visitors the opportunity to walk 70 feet out beyond the rim. Be sure to include a Skywalk pass in your tour package if you are adventurous and want to have an extreme thrill. It is cheaper to include the pass in your tour rather than waiting to buy a ticket when you get to the park.
The South Rim is more than 275 miles from Vegas, but you can take a bus excursion there too. The drive takes 5 hours each way, but it's time well spent. Just like the West Rim tour, you will get to see Lake Mead and the immense Hoover Dam, but after that, your bus will head in the direction of the Kaibab Plateau in the northern part of Arizona. After you reach the park, you'll see Grand Canyon Village (the location of El Tovar Hotel and the Bright Angel Lodge) along with several key lookouts like Mather Point.
Seeing the Grand Canyon by motor coach is ideal because these tours are all-inclusive and everything you need is in once package. Along with the free pickup and return service to your hotel, you are also provided with a lunch. However, both the South Rim and West Rim have restaurants and snack bars, you are free to eat where you like, and the prices are within reason.
Your tour will last all day, no matter which rim you visit. The drive from Las Vegas to the West Rim takes 2 hours. Riding to the South Rim takes 5 hours so that means you won't get back to the Vegas Strip until nine at night. You certainly don't want to have any other plans for the evening. You'll be too tired to do much even if you get back in time. You will sleep like a rock after a full-day of sightseeing and bus riding.
Motor coach tours are the best way to see the Grand Canyon with your family and friends. Choppers are limited to six passengers and airplanes can carry nineteen. With a motor coach, your entire group can travel together and experience the fun as a group. They're comfortable, too. These are deluxe motor coaches with reclining seats, personal climate controls, plasma televisions, food trays and an onboard restroom. If that sounds good, I'll see you on the drive from Vegas to the canyon, because bus tours are the way to go!
