According to Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama was born about the sixth century B.C., in a royal family. When he was a young adult, several experiences with the outside world made him want to seek out a bigger understanding of life and spiritual fulfilment. Siddharta achieved enlightenment through seeking guidance and meditation, and from that moment he was called ‘Enlightened One’. Since that moment, he started to travel great distances teaching people about one path to salvation and liberation from pain and suffering. Even you can bring home a symbol of Buddhas learning and wisdom!
Today, let me introduce you this beautiful element for enlightenment, with the figure of the enlightened. Click here to see this astonishing decoration element full of symbolism.
According to Buddha enlightenment is the experience of true reality, an "awakening" through which one could comprehend the true nature of things. The goal is to reach Nirvana or freedom from the cycle of birth and death, which is believed to be achieved only if eliminating all greed, hatred, and ignorance within a person. To achieve it, they follow a path called Middle way, that consists of: - A moral conduct: right speech (eliminating falsehood, malicious talk and abusive language), right action (not stealing, killing or unchastity), and right livelihood (earning things through proper means, not killing living beings, etc)
Concentration: right effort (energetic will to prevent or get rid of evil and promote goodness), right mindfulness (be diligently aware, mindful and attentive), right concentration (rid of unwholesome thoughts and achieve pure equanimity and awareness)
Wisdom: right thought (selflessness and detachment, universal thoughts of love and nonviolence), right understanding (of things as they are).
In this particular statue within the lamp, Buddha’s posture symbolizes that he’s attaining spiritual perfection. He is lost in the bliss of meditative speculation, and he exudes serenity and attunement to cosmic wisdom. His right hand shows the symbol of Abhayamudra, the symbol of liberation of fear, the symbol of protection and peace.
Add positive vibrations to your space with this Buddha lamp!! You can place it either in your living room or beside your bed, to remember what Buddha teaches us, every time you see it.
And as a bonus, I am sharing with you my three favorite Buddha Quotes:
"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. "
"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves."
"You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection."
