Seeing the Grand Canyon is on many people's bucket lists. So what is the best way to go about it? By taking a tour.

There are several scenic Grand Canyon tours to choose from. Here's how.

Your tour choice depends upon the city where you start. For most people, it will be either Las Vegas or a destination in Arizona like Phoenix, Scottsdale and Sedona.

From Vegas

Las Vegas is a fantastic place to begin a tour to the Grand Canyon, and you can find affordable tours there. The options include tours by motor coach, plane, and helicopter.

Helicopter tours are by far the most popular and "sexy" but they are also the ones with limited seating. Flights leave daily and go to the West Rim. There are air-only and landing tours available.

If you are short on time, air tours are the best way to go. If you have the time though, you should consider a landing tour because they include fun adventures. There are numerous variations, ranging from sunset flights to ones that include passes to the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Plane Rides

You can take an airplane tour and follow the same flight route as the chopper tours, and even get the same adventure add-ons. The big difference between airplane and heli is cost and altitude (planes fly higher). Planes hold more people too, so they are good when you have a large group or can't get a seat on a chopper.

You can take chopper and airplane tours at the South Rim too. The helicopter tours last 30 or 50 minutes. The plane version is fifty minutes. No matter which you pick, all are superb. The long helicopter tour is highly recommended though because it covers a great deal of the park.

A note about window seats. They are popular and to get them you'll have to pay extra. On helicopters, there's no guarantee you'll get one because seating is dictated by the cumulative weight of all passengers. However, I recommend still going for it. It is much easier to get one on an airplane tour since there are more windows available.

Bus Tours To The Grand Canyon

As you can imagine, air tours of the canyon are the most expensive type of tour. If they are out of budget, most definitely consider a bus tour. These primarily depart from Las Vegas but there are ones out of Phoenix, too. The depart from Las Vegas at 7 a.m. They do not depart later in the day.

Vegas buses go to the West Rim and the South Rim. The West Rim is closer. Despite that, both trips require a full day, getting you back to the Las Vegas Strip in the evening.

Pick a West Rim tour if you want to walk on the Skywalk and have other adventures. If you want a tour just to soak up the scenery, you should go to the South Rim. These price for these tours includes the cost of taxes, Park fees, shuttle service, and even lunch.

Conclusion

Tours are a fantastic way to experience the Grand Canyon. Go by bus, chopper, or plane. Be sure to book your seats early too so you won't get shut out of the tour you want. And that's all there really is to it. I hope to see you up here. Have a great trip!
