Spain: to retain the Crown

Spain failed at last World Cup and lost the title of the best team in the World, but Royal Spanish Football Federation didn’t make any substantial changes, keeping Vicente del Bosque as their head coach despite massive critics. Now La Furia Roja’s task to do all they can to retain the Crown after upcoming Euro-2016 as the titleholders.

After Brazil

Despite failure at World Cup in Brazil, Vicente del Bosque remained at his place, but the team had changed. Number of honorable veterans left the team, which allowed other skilled players, who were ready to play at top level, to have more caps. Football prediction experts have noted that Spain have numerous young and talented players and the head coach simply was late with implementing new generation of player and paid the price at the World Cup.

As we can tell by team’s performance, Spain isn’t that impressive as they were in years of their domination, but the team have potential to improve. The head coach’s task is to give new player of the Red Fury a chance to show their best football and be useful for the team.

Fixing mistakes

Pundits and fans demand del Bosque to make changes. There were three key points:

  • to make De Gea their #1;

  • to give Xavi’s and Iniesta’s roles to Koke and Isco;

  • to implement new strikers instead of Villa and Torres.

There are still questions about all three issues. Casillas still play more matches than De Gea, but his superb performance against Ukraine might change his mind. Koke and Isco play regularly, but they aren’t key players of the team. Of course, it’s hard to pick midfielders with such impressive selection. Euro-2016 will show if the coach can find perfect line-up.

The position of the striker is still unclear. Diego Costa fails to meet high expectations, Alvaro Morata plays much better, but he suffers from injuries a lot, which give Paco Alcacer a chance to count on opportunities in line-up. It’s clear Spain will struggle to keep the crown, but bet4rate.com analytics warn no to cross off the Red Fury. Upcoming competition in France will be the last in del Bosque’s career in the national team. He has impressive players in his team and the coach’s task is to gain back his team their strength. Del Bosque’s team is able to be the title’s contenders if the head coach manages to blend youth and experience perfectly.
