Inflammatory arthritis refers to a group of conditions that affect your immune system resulting to your defense system attacking your tissues instead of viruses, germs and other foreign objects in your body. Being in constant pain is the hardest part of living with inflammatory arthritis. Individuals living with this condition are faced with recurrent ongoing pain that adversely affect their outlook in live and which can easily lead to stress and eventually depression. However, this does not have to be the case anymore; there are 4 natural anti inflammatory spices that have withstood the test of time in helping you reducing joint pain and arthritis related inflammation. Here they are:
Rosemary
What is it?
Rosemary is an evergreen plant that grows anywhere in the world providing temperatures are not extremely low. Rosemary has for a long time been used to lower cortisol, as a source of antioxidants and vitamin B6 and in reducing anxiety. However, after a research that was done by the University of Maryland medical center, rosemary is today one of the most celebrated anti inflammatory spices when it comes to reducing arthritis, joint pain and inflammation.
How to use it!
For optimal arthritis results, stuff a chicken with fresh rosemary and onions before frying it or sprinkle rosemary powder over potatoes and then roast them. Rosemary is also one of the best aromatic additions to meat, sauces and pasta. Note that doctors recommend that you take less than 6 grams of dried rosemary daily. Mega doses may cause allergic reactions.
Ginger
Another great anti inflammatory spice are ginger roots. These have a light brown stem and depending on the variety you are using, you may encounter a variety of white, yellow or red flesh. Ginger has been applied for medical uses in China and India for more than 5,000 years. Today, ginger is popularly used as a treatment for stomach upset and diarrhea. However, what has made ginger roots very popular is their inclusion as one of the best anti inflammatory spices when it comes to arthritis.
How to use it!
For optimal results, toss chopped fresh ginger roots into a stir fry. You can also use it in salmon glaze.
Turmeric
What is it?
Turmeric is a root that is closely related to ginger and native in South Asia. Turmeric is dark brown on the outer coating with deep orange flesh. It has been applied for medical use for over 4,000 years mainly to treat digestive problems and reduce inflammation. However, turmeric is today being hailed as one of the most effective anti inflammatory spices when it comes to arthritis. The only limitation of using turmeric as compared to the above two spices is that results takes time to manifest.
How to use it!
For best results with this anti inflammatory spice, use it in curry to give your meal a yellow tint. Ideally, try to make your dish a vegetable curry that has cinnamon as well: This gives double anti inflammatory effect.
In conclusion, cinnamon is also one of the most celebrated anti inflammatory spices when it comes to reducing arthritis pain and inflammation. However, it is less effective compared to ginger, turmeric and rosemary.
