Now that you have a basic understanding of how to strobe from Part 1, let’s go a little further to figure out the best way to have that serious wattage highlight. The reason strobing is such a spectacular makeup technique is that it has the ability to make you look radiant, youthful, and highlights all your best features. In order to strobe correctly you have to make sure your highlighter is subtle, yet effective and follow these bonus tips.

Make Sure Your Skin Isn’t Too Matte To Start With

The overall effect that you want with strobing is a healthy glow. That means make sure your skin isn’t too matte. Try a BB Cream or a tinted moisturizer for skin that is even and not too matte. This isn’t the time for your full face of shine-free foundation. That doesn’t look right when you strobe.

Your Skin Needs To Be Healthy

In order to highlight your features during the strobing effect, you need to make sure your skin is healthy. Why would you want to highlight bad skin? It just doesn’t make sense. Aim for the best looking skin you can manage. If you have problems, such as acne, redness, or dark spots, try to get into a skincare routine that will solve those issues. Don’t sleep with your makeup on at night, clogging your pores, if that’s something you are still doing. Your face is your palette to showcase these gorgeous makeup techniques, like strobing, but it’s only going to look as good as your skin underneath.

Blend, Blend, Blend

This can’t be stated enough, blend, blend, blend, and then blend some more. You don’t want streaky highlights on your cheekbones, down the center of your nose, and above your brows. That’s the features where strobing works the best, keep in mind.
