Living in this era, if you haven't heard of VoIP, then you'd better fine tune yourself. It is an abbreviation for Voice over Internet Protocol. It is a revolutionary technology in itself and it is possible to rewrite the fate of the telephone. In short, this technology can convert analog audio signals (digital data) into digital data, which is generated when talking on a cell phone. As we all know, digital forms of data can be smoothly transmitted through the virtual Internet.

Practical Functionability of VoIP

So, in other words, VoIP can easily convert or upgrade a standard Internet connection to a telephone device from which you can make free calls. To make your job easier, there is always plenty of free VoIP software on the web. Therefore, people can easily bypass the telephone company and make free Internet calls through their telephone devices.

Reinvent the wheel

VoIP technology is just a clever modification of the wheel. At present, the technology has gained enough maturity so you can choose from three different services.

ATA: The most popular and easiest method is to use a device called an analog phone adapter or ATA. It enables users to connect standard telephone devices to Internet connections to facilitate VoIP services. It may be noted here that ATA is an analog-to-digital converter. It accepts analog signals or data from traditional telephone equipment and converts it into digital data, which is then transmitted over the Internet. In fact, many service providers now offer customers free ATA services in a plug-and-play box. Simply remove the ATA from the given box and connect the cable from the phone to the ATA. Hi! You have completed and now start using your Internet service to dial your VoIP phone.

IP Phones: These are specially designed telephone devices, although they look just like regular telephones, with handsets, keyboards or buttons, and cradle. Unlike RJ-11 connectors in standard phones, these specially designed devices have RJ-45 Ethernet connectors. Therefore, these gadgets connect directly to the router and load all the necessary hardware and software needed to handle IP calls.

Computer to Computer: This is one of the simplest options for using VoIP services. You will get affordable software from the market and you need to make such VoIP calls. In addition to the software, you also need a microphone, sound card, speakers, and an internet connection to take advantage of this facility. The only fee you pay for using this service is the rental fee of your internet service provider.

The reasons behind the popularity

Basically, there are two factors behind the popularity of VoIP.

-Reasonable cost and

-Amazing features"

VoIP phones also allow call center supervisors to use a reliable internet connection from any geographic location.

This is the basics involved in VoIP. Given all the advantages and disadvantages, technology seems likely to stay here.
