I have personally used, recommended and have received reports of rave results in my recommendation of various essential oils for plantar fasciitis (and other itis) pain relief. While most essential oils have multiple benefits, my five top recommendations have proven to be significantly beneficial in reducing muscle and joint pain and reducing internal inflammation below the skin's surface.

How To Use Essential Oils

TOP 5 ESSENTIAL OILS:

While there a plethora of ointments, sprays, and patches that contain pain relieving ingredients, I confidently recommend the pure essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, rose geranium, lavender as my top five natural remedies.

BENEFITS AND HEALING PROPERTIES:

These essential oils offer many benefits, including but not limited to anti-inflammatory, circulation, cooling, antimicrobial, antibacterial, stress and tension relief, general pain relief.

Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils give an instant cooling sensation and quick relief; as it penetrates your skin you will feel the pain-relieving effects as your inflammation is being reduced. Eucalyptus oil also helps with stress, tension, and respiratory issues. Rosemary oil is beneficial for muscle, joint, and arthritis pain as well as improved circulation. Rose Geranium will help to heal the skin if your feet have developed open wounds or calluses and ease the accompanying pain. Lavender oil not only helps soothe muscle and joint pain but reduces inflammation and heals various skin conditions.

HOW TO USE THESE ESSENTIAL OILS :

As a Topical Rub: Drip 10-15 drops of oil in a 1 oz glass roll-on bottle; fill the rest of the bottle with a light carrier oil such as grapeseed oil. Keep in your purse or backpack and rub on as needed. Instead of pouring on or rubbing on with your hand (both can get messy and wasteful), it is best to buy essential oil roller bottles - glass containers with a removable roll on top. These containers are specifically made for topical application of essential oils (usually an amber/dark brown or blue glass). These containers should easily be found and purchased where you purchase your oils, on Amazon.com or at your local health food store. I recommend using a glass oil container with roll-on top instead of simply dripping the oil in your hand or onto the area of pain. This is the most recommended manner of application because it is the most targeted manner and you will definitely regret the pain of accidentally getting the oils anywhere near your eyes. As careful as you may try to be, even after washing the oil off of your hands with warm water and soap, you do not want to experience the possibility of residual oil near your eyes...trust me on this!

As a Foot Bath Soak: Drip 20 drops of your favorite healing oil into a container/rectangular bucket (large enough to comfortably fit both feet into with ample space to freely wiggle your toes) or a foot massager purchased from your local pharmacy/drug store or beauty supply. Fill about halfway with warm water. Soak for 20-30 minutes, close your eyes and relax.

As a Sugar Scrub: Drip 10 drops of your favorite healing oil into a ½ cup of raw sugar and a ½ cup of carrier oil such as grapeseed oil. Mix and scrub your feet with this blended scrub for 5-10 minutes; rinse off.

Be sure to purchase real, 100% pure essential oils and do not expose them to direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
