Anger can be defined as a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility.
Anger can further be identified as an emotion characterized by antagonism toward someone, or something that was deliberately initiated, and at the same time, causing irritation, or agitation toward you.
We can all agree though that anger is an emotion, and emotions are affiliated with feelings.
Just as Feelings are primarily associated with situations that may cause a sense of happiness, sadness, doubt, unbelief, fear, adoration, horror, disgust, joy, pain, and the list of emotions goes on and on and on.
Just like every individual control these emotions, the emotion of anger can and should also be controlled. The funny thing is that most people have no control over the emotion called anger.
The mere fact that anger is one of the only emotions that people so find hard to control, is that anger is more in control than the person experiencing this emotion.
This can be verified by the number of court cases on the dockets that deal with criminal domestic violence.
It’s not that anger is so powerful that it cannot be controlled, but the focus and the fact of the matter are that people really don’t know how to control their anger emotions.
This causes issues and setbacks in the life cycle because there’s usually an attorney to be attained, a court date to keep, a fine to pay, or some time to spend in jail.
Anger almost always ends with the destruction of physical and/or personal property.
Most people resort to acting on the side of anger emotion, which ends in destruction.
Before one can learn to control situations of anger, one must know how to define anger.
What is Anger?
Once the definition of anger is obtained and understood, the next step is to learn the effects of anger, learn to identify anger, learn control methods for the anger emotion, and learn to program oneself to the point where the thought prevails before the destructive action commences.
The effect or should I express the results of the anger emotion can have detrimental impacts on one’s physical physique, and this can cause underlining health concerns like high blood pressure, elevated anxiety, and headaches, to name a few.
One of the hardest responsibilities related to the control of anger emotion is the recognition of anger.
Chances are that any person faced with a situation that results in anger will never think of the solution to the incident before the action.
Most people dealing with anger will undoubtedly follow their emotions, and if this is done, the situation will probably end in some type of destruction.
Most people experiencing fear will scream, and those experiencing happiness will laugh.
Anyone experiencing sadness will cry.
For every emotion, there is a reaction.
So why is there not a reaction to anger?
People react differently and according to the situation, in which they are involved.
But statistics have shown that anger is not controlled, rather anger has the tendency to take over the situation.
Anger often results in black eyes, busted lips, broken ribs, holes in walls, broken furniture, broken dishes, and utensils…and that list goes on and on!
Courtrooms and defense attorneys’ offices are filled with defendants’ charges of violent acts, most of which are regretted.
Money and time are forever being lost dealing with the results of anger, and it seems that action prevails before thought.
It’s not supposed to be that way because we are the most intelligent species on earth.
So why can’t we control our anger emotion?
That’s the reason I am here providing delicate information that may result in different outcomes.
Fortunately, my civilian employment for over ten years was as a Mental Health Counselor II.
As a matter of fact, I designed a successful Anger Management group session at the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
