Even before the release, the new Barbie movie has been top of mind, and now everyone wants a piece of that Barbie lifestyle and live in a Barbie world. While not every day will be perfect, a bit of Barbie's attitude may make it better.
From getting all dolled up to taking part in girls’(and guys’) Barbie-themed hangouts, people are living life inspired by the famous Mattel character and having a blast while doing so.
The Barbie-mania got me thinking, how would Barbie travel if she were a real person?
I did a bit of research and RubyHome came up with a $10,000,000 estimation of Barbie’s Dream House after comparing it to real-life homes. Based on the estimate, inman.com concluded that Barbie makes at least $2 million a year which would still leave her a large amount of discretionary income after paying her mortgage.
Given her financial status, the 64-year-old (yes, that’s how long Barbie has been around), could definitely afford to travel in style once she’s fully retired from all 200 jobs listed on her resume.
She is already a world traveler, though, having been to major cities like New York, Paris, London, Rome, Tokyo, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, and fictional places within the Barbie Universe.
Understanding the type of financial freedom she has and knowing her classic personality traits and interests, here is a list of trips that are guaranteed to be Barbie-approved. I hope you take inspiration from it and someday are able to travel like Barbie.
Sustainable Adventure in Costa Rica:
Pacuare Lodge
Barbie is known for her passion for the environment and outdoor activities. She would love an eco-friendly adventure to Costa Rica, exploring its lush rainforests, breathtaking waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. She could participate in sustainable activities such as wildlife conservation and zip-lining, and stay in eco-friendly accommodations. Pacuare Lodge(from $1114) would be the perfect high-end lodge for Barbie to experience both luxury and adventure. Guests reach the lodge via a rafting experience and have the option to take part in a hike to visit Indigenous communities during their stay.
Art and Culture Tour in Italy:
View of Amalfi Coast from Belmond Hotel Caruso
Barbie has a creative and artistic side, so she might choose to immerse herself in Italy's rich cultural heritage. She could visit famous museums and art galleries in Tuscany, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, and Rome, appreciating renowned artworks and architecture. Additionally, she might take part in art workshops to nurture her artistic skills. One of the most opulent hotels she could stay at in Italy while also participating in art workshops would be the Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello(from $822), located on the Amalfi Coast.
Volunteer Mission in Africa:
Being a kind-hearted and compassionate individual, Barbie would likely dedicate some of her time and discretionary income to a volunteer mission in Africa. She could participate in community development projects, support education initiatives, and help improve the quality of life for underprivileged communities. She can still have a luxury experience on this trip by taking a tour with Abercrombie and Kent. While the primary focus of Abercrombie & Kent's private jet tours is on luxury travel, they also incorporate elements of cultural experiences and responsible travel. They have community and conservation initiatives in place, and some of their itineraries include visits to local communities and opportunities for travelers to engage in meaningful volunteer activities. Their “Wings Over Southern Africa” itinerary( from $41,995 per person), for instance, allows for time at different game reserves to marvel at the wildlife, includes a visit to Robben Island(where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned), and takes travelers to Nakatindi Village to “gain insight into local daily life with a visit to a school and clinic supported by A&K Philanthropy.”
Fashion Week in Paris:
As a fashion icon, Barbie could indulge in her love for fashion by attending Fashion Week in Paris. She'd enjoy runway shows from top designers, network with fashion industry professionals, and perhaps even showcase her own fashion line. One of the most luxurious properties to stay at in Paris during fashion week is The Ritz Paris(from $1851). The Ritz Paris is an iconic 5-star hotel known for its opulence, rich history, and association with high fashion and luxury. During fashion week, The Ritz Paris attracts many fashion industry professionals and celebrities, making it a prime spot for networking and enjoying the fashion festivities in the city.
Wellness Retreat in Bali:
COMO Shambhala Estate
Given her active lifestyle and interest in health and wellness, Barbie might treat herself to a rejuvenating wellness retreat in Bali, Indonesia. She could participate in yoga and meditation sessions, relax on pristine beaches, and embrace the Balinese culture. One of the most luxurious wellness retreats in Bali that would be suitable for Barbie's preferences is COMO Shambhala Estate(suites from $652-$3123). The property is surrounded by lush greenery and each villa represents a different culture within Indonesia. Located in the forest between two rivers, guests are immersed in wildlife making it the perfect place to focus on the body, mind, and soul.
