“The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life." Muhammad Ali
The above quote by former heavyweight champion and humanitarian, Muhammad Ali, is a statement to make one reflect on their life journey. Life is supposed to be about growth, reflection and more growth. But why do so many of us get stagnated on the highway of life instead of cruising full speed down the path of success.
Now is a time for us to review our lives and see where we have been and where do we want to go from where we are now. Sometimes I am reunited with friends who I haven’t seen in over 5 or more years, and it amazes me how they are not demonstrating any growth from when we last saw one another. This is in no way to say they are bad and I am better, but the longer we live the more we should grow along the mental, spiritual, physical planes of existence.
I want to ask you a few questions as we reflect on our journey in life.
-
What is the purpose of your life?
-
What do you want your life to have stood for when you are no longer here?
-
What are you doing with what you have, to get what you want?
Ok, now that we have those questions in our minds lets us from this day forward decide that we are going to make everyday count. Say it loud: ‘I am tired of conditions being dictated to me by life and now I will be the one determining the conditions in my life.’ I have heard wise men say there is nothing more powerful than a made up mind. Sometimes we make goals so large or so far in the future that we get discouraged by the many steps needed to accomplish them. I have found it more useful to create little 3 month goals as steps towards bigger goals. Also, every 3 months give yourself a review to gauge how you are growing mentally, physically and spiritually.
Today, we will review our past, make goals in the present and move toward the elevated places that we are destined to be.
Thank you for reading these few words.
